These rails can be re-built to pass NHRA tech. Mine was built (for the first time) in 1966. Now it will certify to 7.50. The main differences are the kidney bars and (of course) the roll cage. I would have designed the cage a little differently if I had done it myself, but no one has ever complained about the looks of the car, at the track.

I'm running in the low 9's now. The new engine should put me into the 8's this spring. Driving this thing is just about the most kick-ass thill ride I've ever been on. I am putting together a five race series, this season, at Tulsa Raceway Park. I've convinced the Outlaw Gasser Association to add a FED/Atlered class to their schedule. I need more rails to race-with. Please contact me, if you're not too far from Tulsa, or know someone who could make it.

    HERE'S THE LATEST SCHEDULE:

    May 1 -- Outlaw Gasser Association #1
    June 5 -- Outlaw Gasser Association #2
    July 10 -- Outlaw Gasser Association #3
    August 14 -- Outlaw Gasser Association #4
Sept. 25 -- Outlaw Gasser Association #5 (Nitro Nationals)

IF YOU NOTICE, THESE DATES LEAD UP TO THE HAMB DRAGS.

    LET'S RACE THESE THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahh, the fuel tank is actually the weight box. We need to have the ability to put around 100lbs of lead shot in there since we plan on doing this deal without a wheelie bar, and I didn't want to have a bunch of lead bars clamped to the front axle. We'll have a 3 1/2 gallon Moon tank mounted length-wise between the weight box and engine.

I found an interesting article on Roadsters.com about wheels. Here is one quote:

"Through the Sixties and into the Seventies, virtually all Top Fuel dragsters used motorcycle-style laced wheels on the front, which were made by lacing machined aluminum hubs to aluminum motorcycle rims that were commonly made in Italy by Akront or Borrani."

HA. There's a thread on HAMB specifically about wire wheels.

    Just search for:

What did they use for wire dragster wheels?

That's what's good and bad about the net. There's so much stuff out there it could be right under your nose!

There are also Threads where we have addressed this,,We all know about the wheels its is "how" ( theres that word again ) to fit them.. HD is a straight 3/4 axle.. It comes down to questions on possible bearing swaps ,,adapters or turning spindles in some cases

also they have been running them since the 50's

The 1st race of the Tulsa nostalgia series is May 1st. Everybody go out and buy a chassis from a professional, like Rooman or King. Let's race these bitches!

This probably isn't the best place for this pic, but it's vintage and cool.
