Because my dirt floor garage at the house I just moved to has no electricity and I've got a 2 stall shop worth of junk packed into a 1 stall space? :p

The dragster looks great man, the pipes look just fine, love the tilt that the motor is set at...if I were over there I'd be spending every waking moment out there getting her ***embled...and for everyone's sake and sanity, bolt that damned blower on!!! Hahaha...

Those are some nice kneeburner. GOOD Job ! One thing that Pat Foster told me was to use studs and nuts to bolt up the headers. Locite the studs into the heads if you are using the stock oiling for the rocker arms. The studs to use are made by Dorman with a combination type 3/8'' course/fine thread stud. For nuts I used 3/8 UNF (Fine Thread) Aircraft Mini Lock Nuts that use a 7/16 wrench. You can get them from any aircraft supply house.

    Thanks guys.

Riceman, I've got the course/fine thread studs on the top row. I also picked up some of the locking nut's at a surplus place in Wichita that has a lot of aviation stuff. The bottom row leaves little room for studs. :-( I'm going to have to countersink the flange and use countersunk bolts. Like I said, I just cut things to close. It'll look cool though. :)

I spoke to Patty a couple of times while I was building my coupe. Wish I hadn't been so shy and had invited myself over to his place.

FWIW, I got the tube I made my front axle out of from Hanna through a friend who knows him. I want to show this girl off to him but it'll be a complete piece of **** compared to what he builds.

Tom Hanna has applied todays technology to his cars. I would too if I had the $$$$$$$. Tom is a great guy and respects hot rods at any level. Hey, if I put my car next to Tom's Dragster, it would look like Nitro Meatloaf. He said I could be next to him anytime anywhere. Must be good meatloaf.

BTW guys, if you mill what you need off the starter flange you don't need to turn the flywheel around. Plus you just voided your warranty or any hope of getting it re-certed. Lippy

Your's will be the real deal Lippy. :) How short are you going? Gonna use a hemi? You won't wimp out like me on the trans I'm sure.

She's got 3.70:1 gears. As far as the recert, I had to trim the bell a bit to get it in the ch***is so I'm already screwed.

Stay on that thing Kerry!! I'm thinking about 144 or so WB. No hemi. 427 BBC with stack inj on a big load. It's gonna be high gear only with a pedal clutch like Brians. Radir slicks , about a 3.20 or 3.50 gear in a 8 3/4 mopar rear. YEE HAW, make em smoke Bobby!!!:D We'll be at the HAMB drags with the A/F car next year, I may just pull around the water once and see how far it will smoke em.;) Lippy

I didn't want to step on someone elses thread. Kerry, how do you put a non modified motorcycle hub and bearings on a spindle like this. Just curious. [IMG]

Lippy, I don't want to **** in on your question to Kerry :-0 but here's a couple pics of an old M/C wheel I have that were modified (?) to fit on a dragster - specifically anglia spindles as you pictured there.

I'm not sure pic shows it, but for the smaller ID bearing the bearing was actually sleeved down (slightly) to fit the anglia spindle while the ID of the BIG end wasn't changed. It also appears that there has been some slight machining to the flange edge of the BIG ID bearing side hub. I dunno what m/c this was off of or if the bore of the hub was stock or machined - I could take it apart and see if there's any tell tale evidence on the hub bore.

    The rims are 18"

I doubt those were ever on a MC. I have run spool hubs on the front of a MC with no front brake and they were even bigger than that. I think those are DRAGSTER spools laced to a MC rim. Our car has dragster hubs laced to MC rims. and, P&S spindles. Thanks for the pics. Hell, even a Honda 50 had a hub with a brake, front and rear. I dunno. Lippy

Well Lippy I sure don't know enough about them to argue - I ***umed that they were M/C since the one bearing was "modified" with the sleeve and I wondered what the machined edge may have origionally looked like. I dunno either - but now you have me wondering...

... maybe they were go-cart hubs!!! ha ha ha

    Kerry:
Your car and headers look real good. The Weiand blower manifold could be a problem. The low rise and bad distribution can cause cylenders to run lean. We had one like it in 1964 but with bottom pop offs. We would burn two or three pistons on 50% during the last runs at green Vally on Saturday nights. It seems like #5 was the worst. A taller Crager type would be better and on later you would have the ability to tune better with port nozzels.
Just an observasion dwrfab Don Ross

  20. hadnt seen this thread up in a while,,,,missed the headers....KILLER!!!!

Well Lippy,I didn't use Anglia spindles, and the ones I used I cut down on the lathe pretty hard. Iended up machining the step for the bigger inner bearing so both bearings have the same ID. Make sense?

Dwrfab, I'd heard that before about this intake, of course only after buying it. I was prety darned excited to find and get an old one like this. I'm going to be running straight Alky so I'll probably just run it fatter than normal.

I'm finally starting to get back after it, working on a bunch of the little things. If it'd just warm up when I have the time I'm about ready to fire her up with a 4bbl carb and break the cam in. I'll take a pic tonight wit both coated headers on her.
