Dragster tails from the CHRR

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kiwi Kev, Oct 13, 2006.

  1. I love checking out old dragsters. To me they are like fine works of art. I really like the tail sections. I had a great time at the NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion. Walking around there is like a spiritual experience being surrounded by so much old drag machinery. A little off topic I know but I can't be the only one who enjoys looking at these. I really appreciate the workmanship and the style! Anyway check out the Bakerfield pics post, I'll put some other pics over there.

  4. Royal Shifter...... I don't know of any for sale but if I needed one I would make my own. I have never built anything with that many curves but I would love to. I have an old front engine dragster sitting in my back yard so I guess I'll put it on the list of things to do before I die. Fibergl*** tails used to be available from Kellison and others back in the 60's but I don't know where you'd find one today.

Hey Royalshifter, I've seen NEW fibergl*** ones on the net not too long ago - sorry I don't remember exactly where. If I were you -I'd suggest you try your hand at making one. I did - and it didn't trun out half bad. With websites like Metalshapers - they will coach you along and you will no doubtedly surprise yourself at what you can accomplish. This was my first real attempt at metalshaping. You just need some direction - is my approach and those guys can give you that in spades!
