Well, am departing from the original dragmaster a bit. The top hoops had a bend about 8 inches up but I'm just going with a straight hoop. Sittin on a 1" board on top of the bottom hoop sits me a bit high. The bottom of the seat will be a touch below th bottom of the lowest back hoop.

It looks to me like you will need to be putting uprights in both of the rear 'corners' of the cage to protect against any fopreign objects getting in there with you. This includes push bars[ or bumpers on push cars] if you and your pushcar driver get crossed up for any reason, let alone what can happen if you should actually have an 'incident' ,which I certainly hope you never do! Good luck with your project ,it certainly looks like you know what you are doing . nice job.

  13. Nice work, especially nice 'stance.'

Stance mentioned not for stance, but cuz it looks right with a not overly high hoop.
Some of the FEDs from the past look like the driver was an afterthought.

Your rail has a good overall feel and look about it.

Were you wearing a crash helmet when you tried it on for size?

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Yeah Agentwaldo, I do plan on some supports like you metioned. I want to get all the hoops where I like 'em first.

I did indeed try it on for size with a helmet Jay. Kinda why I mentioned the seat height. I'm chomping at the bit to get started on the seat but first things first. There are so many things I want to get after. I'm trying to get at least a couple of hours every evening.

  16. Ooooooooo YES. Just be sure to add the verticals or the Safety Police will not be happy.

Always wondered with the DM frames,,the whole sitting down in a hole kinda thing,,doesn't it make access to pedals a bit odd?

Make sure you fit with ALL the safety gear. A worn pair of jeans and a t shirt may fit, but a full suit may be tight. Plan ahead on belt placement too. As mentioned, the safety police will be checking, and you want all that fun to be comfortable as possible, not leave marks.
I envy you, that thing looks like a major smile-maker!

Actually once you are down in and settled they are very comfortable to sit in, snug as a bug in a rug!

However it takes a bit to get in there so you end up staying in the car in the staging lanes, firesuit, helmet, gloves, boots, neck collar and sun makes it VERY warm. Thats what makes it uncomfortable.

I agree with this statement. My car is tight with my fat**** and a firesuit. Also when I built my car and fitted my self in it. I always used a vintage helmet. But run the car with a modern helmet. Which is WAY bigger. So think of that if you havent.

As I said earlier, lookin good.

I've been trying the cage on with my modern Snell helmet.

Heck yeah Abone! Barring unforseen stuff, she'll have a few laps under her belt before the HAMB drags. :)

Got the second top hoop on tonight. Like Tinman said, it'll be interesting getting in once the steering wheel is in place. Sure fits nice though. :)
