Projects Drdave accidentally buys a Model A. Now what?

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by drdave, Jun 17, 2018.

  1. LOL! Wellll, we'll see how much progress I make between now and then since a big re-organization just jumped to the top of my list. Hopefully at the very least I'll get my son in law's '69 Chevelle back on the road (it was his grandpa's) and out of my shop by then...although it's taking up the space that belongs to my Pontiac which is currently being held somewhere else. Ha!

Very cool . You should double the size of the building plans . Things fill up fast .

Dave, Congrats on whatever you new ride is. I'm sure it will be cooool. When I exhale, it smells of earthworms and minnows .... Er, I mean, I'm waiting with baited breath. :D

  4. Well, this got picked up yesterday and dropped off in Dallas for buffing and detailing…. Should get it home in a few weeks.

  7. That’s the plan….although I don’t think Kevin knows I have it yet. Lol

  8. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE!!! You just got way cooler in my book, if that was possible. Lee is a family friend.

  15. Thanks guys! I’m still in shock…and don’t even have it in my sweaty little hands yet. All the pics I have are taken by someone else. Lol. Can’t believe it worked out and never would have imagined I’d end up with a car like this…never mind one that’s “known” and has a pedigree. Always wanted a 58….being a Merc guy I liked the Merc in American Grafitti of course, but the Impala was always my favorite. CAN NOT believe I have THIS one!!

has the Model A been sold?

  17. It’s staying. Moved the TBird into the house garage temporarily until I can get a new garage built (which has been on the plan list for a few years, but the crazy lake reno kinda derailed that for a bit. Lol)

  18. Dr Dave, lucky you, every car Lee has done is my favorite. Many years ago in the '70s I saw his 41 Buick at Peoria and a few other places. I told him at some point to please call me if you ever want to sell it. He did call me when he was ready but the price was a little more than I had at the time. It went east and over the years it got ruined. So sad. See you at the revival.

  19. I may have to get to CCR again in June.
    Great score!

  20. Got to see the clone of Lee’s 41 last week when we stopped by his house to pick up a few Impala things. He said the original had lived a bit of a hard life after it left him. The clone actually belongs to someone else but they got Lee to do the custom/bodywork. Be cool to see it prowling the streets again!

  27. Thank y'all. Funny, the only way I found out it was going to be for sale was talking with the guys from Murray's at the ROC (they are the ones who brought it to the show) and saying, "It sure was nice of y'all to deliver the Impala down to me and bring me the keys." At that point I had assumed Lee still owned it and had no idea Mike had bought it a few years back. Mostly, I was just hoping they'd open the door and let me sit in it....not tell me, "Well, it's about to be for sale...." LOL

  28. You beat me to it, Timm, but I laughed out loud when I read it!
