Paul I like the change, I think it works with the rest of the truck. I'm also a fan of the Kripple Kart. I checked video and it sounds great. You might want to open the hood once in awhile to let people see the work. Enjoy Rich
Looks good to me. At one point in time, the FE motor in my Vicky was gold, I may revitalize it one day.
Looks great. I have a pair of E400 valve covers stashed in my dad's barn. I have often thought how cool an Edsel FE would be in a '60 Comet. Your 289 looks right at home in that engine bay. And as a Falcon owner, I agree wholeheartedly about not wanting to appear like a Mustang wannabe. -Dave
Job well done Paul , much more in keeping with the rest of the Kart . you and the band of helpers need a pat on the back . Rod .
looks good. . .and a windsor IS period correct, atleast as much as a small block chevy, and certainly less common. .
Great job... worthy of the fine truck! A buddy in the sixties had a set of clear red wires on his '56 Chevy. We were teenagers, and I thought they were cool, but they would easily arc to any nearby metal. He ended up swapping out for Packard 440 copper core. Do you have any night video of the plug wires in action?
Your work turned out very well. Here are some old Ford's from a few years ago and all are beautiful to me. You should be proud of what you have accomplished! Normbc9
What brand and color did you use? I'm thinking of painting my 289 gold as well... I really like that shade of gold you've got there... Not too "br***y" like some I see; it's just right, and really changed the whole look of your engine. Nice makeover!
Old thread, but thanks guys. The paint used on the engine is called Hammerite. It comes in a couple of different finishes, one that gives a kind of, well, "hammered" finish and one smoother, which is the one I used. It withstands high temperatures and greasy **** really well and you just brush paint it on. They only do one shade of gold and it might go under a different name over in the US. Sorry I can't be more specific. Paul
