Damn, this thread is kinda like the twilight zone. Dirty32, sorry about the mix up. I think 55chieftain mentioned using a thread file, it is a very handy tool to have in your box. Unless your threads are really beat up, it will make them useable, both right hand & left hand, heres a link: http://www.wttool.com/product-exec/product_id/38061/nm/Thread_Files

Hey daveydeuce, if your tie rod ends are 11/16-18 use a 5/8 drill, if their 11/16-24 use a 41/64 drill.

Whenever some hotshot tools salesman would come into the shop and ask if I needed anything, I'd ask him to look for 11/16-18 taps in LH/RH. Always good for a chuckle. I'd like to know why Ford thought it was a good idea to invent a thread.

yeh great question! I would love to know too!
wierdly enough, i went looking for a 11/16-18 LH tap earlier this year, and the only stockist in australia of such a beast happened to be in a quiet suburban street in the next suburb to me! was really odd walking in and asking for it and the guy just goes "yep, anything else?" and brings one out!!
Im using 34 tierod ends on my 32 and need to cut threads further up the rod, hoping that a dienut is available in 11/16-24....

Goliath Tools in brunswick if any OZ guys need it.
