hi Guys.Building my frist 32 Ford.I have a few questions.Frist on wishbones.I like the look of them drilled.Does doing this weaken them? How big should the holes be?Do i need to put some kind of metal tube inside each hole to renforce them? Also mounting them.In old hot rod magizines i see the mounting plate bolted to the side of the frame.Speedway sells this plate.Would that look be something you would see in the late 1950s.Thanks for your input

Any time you drill anything your weaking the substrat. How you drill the hole plays a key factor in what strengh your leaving intact. Most steels have a hardness that counter acts this practice however it does effect the stress paths of the loads. You can Cold work the holes or do bushing inserts if this is a high load area. Based on the diameter of the holes drilled you will want anywhere from 0.25 to 0.75 times the diameter hole measured from dead center to dead center of the next hole on steel, aluminum is 0.75 to 1.5 based on alloy type & temper."2024-T6/ 7075-T76. If it is anything ****-0 dont drill on it until its been heat treated.
