Trying to figure out how and what parts are out there to go from a 52 Ford Transmission to a 1966 Ford 8" Rear. I need the transmission slip yoke, one weld on yoke for the transmission side and another weld on yoke for the rear-end side (fit an Ford 8"). Any advise on where to find the yokes needed? Part Numbers? Anyone done this before? Thanks!
Pretty much any drive shaft shop should be able to get what you need. They can order new pieces or the universal joints that HRP mentioned.
The slip joint for the transmission is the important piece. The #1380 U-joint will be the same at both ends of the driveshaft. These are common shafts up into the "70s in a variety of lengths and are available in older salvage yards. When buying a used shaft, check it carefully for dents and condition of the yokes on each end. Then have a competent machine shop shorten it to suit your requirements. I've done several using one piece Ford F-100 shafts!
Yep, I used a powerglide yoke on my "39 style" open drive 3spd top shifter. Had to trim an inch or so.
Thanks! I was able to score a correct slip yoke for the trans off ebay and picked an older shaft as well... should be in the clear!
