Taking my driveshaft to get balanced. Do I take the rearend pinion yoke also, or do I just disconnect at the u-joint?

The guy said "the whole rotating ***embly" so I was not sure.

  4. He'd be the one to ask, right?

  5. I can't imagine you'd want to take the yoke out of the rear end. Just the u joints

  6. You go and take off the pinion yoke and now you are going to have to do the pre load again. Only thing that goes is the shaft at the rear joint and front slip yoke at the trans if it has one, if not joint to joint.

basically Joint to joint is all they should need . I often throw new u joints on before I have it done so the bearings are smoother and give a true reading .

  8. The place I use always puts in new ones anyways. Cost is quite low

  9. This flange is beyond the u joint and part of the rotating ***embly.

I have a stock Crown Vic 3 1/2 inch aluminum drive shaft in the 55. On the ch***is dyno. it was up to seven thousand in fourth gear and I felt no vibrations. Some factory stuff is pretty good.

yes it is drop it and the rust will knock it out of balance flaking off .. or it will sound like a beer can and a good twist .

Have to chuckle at the rusty driveshaft. Back when I lived in the Buckeye State, I had a Catalina that had a hole rusted through the oil pan. And now back to our regularly scheduled topic
