Last Saturday the wife and I went drag racing in in south Indiana, "The Road Kings Outlaw Drags". The temp 105, inside her truck 122 plus helment, track temp at starting line 155. Hot as hell as the track in a vally no breeze, still a good time with hot rods.

I used to have a real hot rod! 33 Nash 3w that had a filled cowl and the rear window regulator was missing, after I restored the cowl vent and found a window regulator for the back glass, it was perfect, if you opened the rumble seat even better, I eventually put a dash fan in it cause sitting in the staging lanes it got pretty hot inside. I put a vintage air system in my 63 Comet and it was a lot of work, about 1500.00 and it did cluttered up the pure look in the engine compartment, but it made for ICE cold interior if u wanted it like that. Just being in an old beater is still way COOLER than any econobox with AC on!

A buddy of mine just put a hood scoop on his track roadster (it has a hopped-up SBF, track nose and louvered hood sides) and he was amazed by the cooling effect on his engine compartment and cabin. He got one of those low profile scoops used on Cobras and the opening faces forward. Those scoops are inexpensive and look very nice on that style car. Sorry, no recent pix but here is the before image. Gary

Don't really enjoy the heat but, will take it to not have deal with the cold. I110 degrees is unpleasant, 0 degrees hurts. I can cool off way faster than I can warm up. Working in the auto repair business it is interesting to see that people bitch and moan about having to spend .10 on repairing their car's ac system that they can't live without. OK so, then just roll down the windows. They don't even do that on nice days. For human survival heat is a neccessity, air conditioning is a luxury.

  7. Ever notice even on a HOT day in a HOT ROD you still enjoy the ride. HRP

Drove to a meet Friday evening around 6pm. 107 degrees, with a 115 heat index due to Ohio humidity. Probably hotter in my toaster oven Caddy.

Suck it up and drive. Literally, suck up any fluid you can because you're gonna sweat like a woman giving birth.

Spent 4-days in Columbus @Goodguys. Record tempatures, 103 on Friday, 102 on Saturday. Had a cool front come thru on Sunday, only in the high 90's. Made for a pretty miserable time outside. Thank God for the air conditioned buildings. Didn't seem to be much cruising going on. Attendance also seemed to be down, but still a good time.:) I know what you mean about the drag slicks & bias plys. We got sprinkled on during our trip over Thursday morning and during registration, but it stopped in time for the Poker Run. The weekend had to be a good test for everyone's HOT Rods. Stay Cool:cool:

  11. I've had several cars with broken heaters and never fixed one. But as soon as the Riv gets back from paint, she's getting the A/C fixed!

I just moved here to Az. from Mi. where its been 95-100+ for the last month. I dont mind the heat but the old 94's on my 57 do. They flooded a bit in Mi. (I'm gonna fix it someday...) but I could live with it there. Guess I'll have to dig into it now.
