I feel like should have been allowed to all along but when there are daugaters and step daughters, well you gotta behave.

I'll be at Good Guys Puyallup this weekend, wish you were going to be there as well. We always seem to miss each other.

Great to hear that you have recovered and are good to drive. Unfortunately many aren't that "lucky" after having a stroke. Hopefully you get to spend many more years behind the wheel.

Good news. My Pa in law had to give up driving at 82 years old. His vision has dimmed so bad he can barely see.

Glad to hear you can drive again. Almost like turning 16 after getting your license and having all that freedom.

Earlier this year I had a total knee replacement and the orthopedic surgeon said I wouldn’t be able to drive for six weeks. At my four week post op checkup I asked the doc if I could drive he looked at me and pointed to my wife and said it’s “up to your instructor”. He said go to a parking lot drive around and if she thinks you are alright you can start again. I started laughing. I’m not a good passenger really don’t like to ride with anyone. My wife is a “very defensive driver” and I will leave it at that.

On the way home from the docs office she was making a left turn. A car was coming but was still a few hundred yards away and I was saying “go go go” but she kept waiting. The traffic light changed and I again said “go” to complete the turn but she didn’t. The car that had been approaching ended up running the red light. She turned her head looked at me and said “that’s another week” at that point I couldn’t do anything else but laugh. Sure did feel good to get back behind the wheel, don’t know who was happier me or my wife.

  17. My wife had a stroke in April. Doctor told her not to drive for 30 days and after consultation with him. Ended up being about 80 days, but she was free to drive after the visit. Pretty sure auto insurance would have found "that" loophole if she had been involved in an accident before the the green light from the doctor.

Good to hear you are cleared to drive again. I can remember the hoops I had to jump through to get my flight physical clearance after a minor stroke. Cleared for two deployments afterwards, but the government can dig their heels in when they want. Just take care of yourself and try to avoid a repeat.

Good for you !! Had a stroke June 2023 at 81. Rt arm and leg did not function. After rehab and therapy functions slowly returned. I was cleared to drive after a few months. Now they say I'm 85-90%-little improvements continue.
Good luck and keep a positive attitude! Hoping the best for you!
