Thought I'd inject a little humor here as I think I'm not the only one with this problem....... /www.facebook.com/reel/925914232793694
Just with your wife? Hell, you ought to try it with your wife, your mother-in-law, and your wife's aunt.
True story: Mid 1990s the family and I were on vacation my wife was driving on I80 heading west somewhere around Rock Springs Wyoming. The car - 1968 Torino two door cherry condition basically stock except for exhaust. She’s zinging down the interstate at about 70 or so, car is purring. I decide to take a nap, about 1/2 hour into my nap I’m awakened to a terrible vibration and a crazy WWWRRr noise and then BANG - I’m fully awake now with the BANG the noise and vibration are gone. I look over at wife , she hasn’t even let up on the throttle, purring down the highway, I say a a a what happened? She says don’t know, I say are ya going pull over, she says no The gauges are fine and no idiot lights on. Me Pull the damn car over now! She says why? I mean I don’t have an answer I completely dumbfound by now. Any how get the car pulled over, the AC idler pulley froze and snapped off, no damage, belt just sitting there, could’ve sent pulley through the radiator, the belt could’ve gotten tangled and took the rest of the belts. I can still picture her driving after the commotion like nothing happened. Dan
Hello, I might be the one of the only guys that has a wonderful wife that is game to learn anything together. She has enough confidence in me with our backgrounds meshing since our last two years of college. So, since 1966, she has been with me through thick, thin, sideways rain, snow, and a flurry of wind blowing sideways with dust and crapola flying through the air. In various hot rods, sporty cars and station wagons. Even though I knew how to sail since high school, she was game enough to want to learn to sail. So, we took a series of classes that lasted 3 weeks one summer. Beginners week, intermediate week and finally, racing techniques on Newport Beach Harbor bay waters. She had enough confidence in me to have just the two of us in a small 14 foot boat in the learning phases. The winds were mild to blowing like stink with the mainsail lowered to half mast to have some forward motion, but not be overwhelmed in our directional sailing. But, when we were in our cars, she was/is a wonderful conversationalist and that helps in the 3000+ mile cross country road trip or the many times we drove to the PNW and Canada along the Westcoast. Even our forays into Baja Mexico, she was game enough to sleep in the back of the El Camino “under the stars.” My big mistake was to pack up the sleeping bag and swung it around to get it to the front of the bed to tie down. It whacked her in the head and she definitely did not like that. So, we spent the next 4 days in a fancy resort hotel and all was good. We got some mean looks as we were the only ones walking through the lobby area to the parking lot, with me carrying my longboard and that we were 20 somethings, not fancy do-dah travelers. Ha! Jnaki Traveling with my wife since 1966 has been wonderful. Sometimes, it is amazing to think we have driven all over the Westcoast and later on, decided to do a cross country road trip all the way to the east coast for new sailing adventures. (We spent over a week heading east through OKC and had to turn around and cancel all Eastcoast + upper Midwest reservations due to road blockage outside of St. Louis. ) As a road trip veteran, (when we decided together to turn around and head for K.C.) she took over driving and whipped through some two lane roads to get us to the downtown area for our couple days of rest. One has to have something going for all of these years. When we go to the beach, somewhere on the So Cal coast, it just seems like our old college days, but many years removed. It just still fits. So, in order to continue our long lasting relationship, I have learned to “listen,” nod my head and try to understand her point of view. If it is outrageous, then some nice redirection is necessary, but in a way it does not take front and center. Learning to adapt to each conversation is a long lasting process… YRMV
After 45 years, we have survived by working together...I play with cars and bikes, and she plays with jewelry. The nicer the car, the nicer the ring. As far as driving... the way she drives, she should be wearing a fire suit.
My dad was similar with my mom but instead of cars it was firearms. He would buy both the jewelry and firearms from the same place. He had an acquaintance that owned a pawn shop.
My wife was my Navigator back in my desert racing days. She was outstanding. Funny thing is she's lost without route instructions in front of her for normal day to day driving.
I’m lucky been married to my navigator for 39 years, other than the little escapade posted above she’s been near perfect. She still laughs when I tell the story, we’ve logged 100s of thousands of miles together maybe a million or more. A lot of fun adventures, as I type this we are 1200 + miles from home. Happy travels all. Dan
My favorite quote from the divorce court Judge: "I'm not going to do that." He said that 3 times, with increasing emphasis.
So good! Thanks a ton—nothing like a little humor to kick-start the day on a positive note. I've got a busy day ahead, tackling a couple of projects that need wrapping up, and also making arrangements with https://academized.com/college-paper-writing-service to help my son stay on top of his studies. With all these tasks lined up, it feels great to have some reliable support so he can manage his workload without stress. Here's to a productive day for both of us
