You dont have to start a new thread every time you have a question, the search function will provide days of great reading. There are many threads discussing the pros and cons of dropped origonals and aftermarket.

I would run a dropped origonal over aftermarket every time, even if they were more than new ones. A correctly dropped origonal is plenty strong, great looking and is traditional...JMO.

Just remember that some of the new dropped axles are not forged axles and are cast steel.

I've got a SoCal dropped axle for my Model A simply because I picked it up for a right price Otherwise I'd send the Model A axle that is in my back yard off and have it dropped. My car is going to run fenders and a bumper so the axle isn't right out in the open for everyone to see either.

For most of the guys here it is the aesthetics of running an original axle that they had dropped that counts as the deciding factor. They just don't like the idea of running a reproduction axle.

  6. Simple question should get simple answer.
I'd go with a Henry axle dropped.
You want a forged axle anyway you choose.
    Most aftermarket axles are narrower

For a model A I would go with a 46"(kingpin to kingpin).. It tucks the tires in with or without fenders.. I personally don't like wide front axles on model A's so you're left with aftermarket axles...

I'd get the dropped model a axle.

It's the more traditional solution and besides, Ford axles are forged, unlike most aftermarket axles.

If you've got a stock "A" axle, Jack Fuller in Hampton does a nice job on drops, or Doug Walker @ "Joe Smith Early Ford" in Richmond can hook you up with a dropped stock Model A axle.

  12. Go with the original ford parts whenever possible

I had a 36 axle dropped by 296v8 and it was nice. He does all repairs and comes back blasted and ready for paint.
