drop axle reshape question...

    Hey there folks, I may be dreaming this but did someone post a service not too long ago saying they could take most any later axle and reshape it to a '32 drop style? If anyone out there remembers this, please let me know. Thanks, Old school dave

    I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind, but the axle on my car started as an Econoline. I was quite young when it was done, but what my dad did was lop off the tabs for the U-bolts (originally parallel leaf), build up weld in the spring perch area, drilled through the built up area for those, and then it runs a stock model A wishbone. Oh yeah, and it's also narrowed and gusseted up in the centre. A lot of work, but saves on the cost of a new dropped axle.
