I want to order a dropped axle for my new project but I'm not sure what to get. [IMG] Does anyone have an axle from Chassis Engineering and if so what do you think of it? I can get one with a 4 inch drop thats allready drilled pretty reasonably. I'm not sure what size I'll need. The one I'm looking at is a 47 inch with 2 1/4 inch bosses (whatever the hell that meens [IMG]). It's going under my new '30 5 window. Any opinions or suggestions?

  2. The axle you discribed is the best aftermarket dropped axle in my opinion. IT is well built and looks real good. The 2 1/4 is the width of the axle. Ford made 2 and 2 1/4, the larger is also refered to and the "heaavy" I think it looks much better. I have the same one on my roadser.

a 2 1/4 pearch boss, means that the height of the axle where the pearch pin and wishbone attach, 28 -31 axles were 2 1/4, and 32 + were 2 in. this also means that 32 wishbones will not fit over an A axle, without either clearencinb the wishbones or the axle. and that A bones will fit the newer axles, with 1/4 in of shims.

so before you order measure the dimension of your wishbones.

the CE axles are the best looking and the highest quality of the NEW axles, they are patterned after the 32 "heavy" axle.

Thanks for the tip. I'm pretty sure that I'll need the 2 1/4 inch version, the rest of the car is completely stock minus the generator.
