Hey guys, I'm droppin a 250 into a 50 chevy belair. I'm using the stock front end-at least I'm trying to. The 250 won't sit because the steering linkage is in the way of the oil pan. The stock 216 pan was shaped different, avoiding that mess. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is the pan shaped different because of the oil pump location? HEEEELP! Please.

there are 3 basic pan designs that i know of, chevy 2, large volume truck, and a normal looking one, they all have different oil pump pickups.

Is there an aftermarket oil pan that I can use to clear all of the steering linkage?

Have no idea. The block is "hecho en Mexico" so the casting numbers aren't listed. I've been told that it could possibly be an "over the counter" or "replacement" block. I can tell you that it's dated july 10,1973 and that it's not an integral head.
