"That front end you got you should be able to get low just my unloading the torsion bars. I never used the Volare but have used the Cordoba torsion bar and when I was done you cuold just get a beer can under the front bumper". <!-- / message -->Yeah that is true, but you have NO shock travel. Believe me I Know!! When you hit bumps, It wants to smack the crossmember on the pavement Forget the taking leaves out...Just get the spring(s) rearched or flip the housing and c-notch.....Need pics????
I was giving options depending on how mush he wanted to spend on it. With the Cordoba setup I still had 3 inches of travel and had no problem with the cross member. The cross member was above the scrub line. It was one of the Gribbens cross members which are hard to find any more. I built the truck 10 years ago and sold it 8 years ago. It was a 1948 Ford panel truck and the truck had a 4 inches rack to it. It I can find thed pictures of the build I will try to scan them in and post them. I seen it at Southern Delaware this year and the guy I sold it to still has it and loves it. Matter of fact when he came to pick it up he had a low profile trailer and we had to take the tires off and just put rims on it to get it in his trailer . had no issue with the cross member them either. Taking every other spring out of the rear springs is an old school practice. It was a cheap easy way to lower the truck Myself I like the Posie setup because it ride nice and three height setting. Posie also has just springs that are suppose to lower the truck 3 inches Taking the springs apart- Free. The spring kit $500.00+
