It isn't like it was the first time it has been misspelled, or mispronounced ;)

Jon, I don’t want to highjack this thread but some of the 56 Mercury’s 260 HP over the counter kit did use WCFB’s because one of the assembly plant for 56 Mercs used Carter’s and were “stock” parts so NASCAR allowed them. They too like the Holleys were to operate with the Loadmatic distributors and are hard to find since the vacuum signal came from both carbs. They too have the vacuum can operated secondaries along with a few Lincoln’s.

I have a Merc and Lincoln Carter WCFB’s in my stash. They both have an aluminum base. I’ve also a set of 1953 Cadillac Rochesters with the same #’s. They are not dual quad models. I should sell all of these as I really have no need but they fit the flathead and GMC aftermarket intakes too. These just a portion of my carbs and parts.

As a note when I bought my 56 Ford the first thing I did was install a 57-up distributor and a 53 Cadillac WCFB. The fuel inlet was in the rear and I only needed to make a small plate to screw on the the linkage for it to work. Used that for 4 years until my dual quad conversion. Also the Ford 56 dual quad intake and the Edelbrock placed the rear carb in a slightly different place but was very similar to the 255 Eddy. In 57 Ford lowered intake I think as a different valley cover was needed.

Chevy offered a dual quad cross -ram with 2-585 cfm holley 4bbl.'s as an option on the 302 z-28 , kept in tune , they worked very well !

The installation instructions that came with the Edelbrock carbs states specifically to not use an open spacer. Not sure why this is as they didn't go into any details. It seems to me that if I keep the 4-hole configuration on the spacer it may do funky things to the airflow as it transits from the carb to the manifold. An open spacer may have a similar effect as there will be a flat plane at the carb mounting pad between the runner openings. This is a cruiser, so that extra 1-2 HP is inconsequential to me, but I just don't want to make a mistake that will cause weird drivability issues. The AVS2 dual quad carbs are 500cfm each, so the 750-ish combined CFM is hopefully close enough to the stock setup that I won't be overcarbureted.

I would love to run a wcfb dual quad on my Caddy(Weiand) intake, but it just so happens that those same carbs are sought after by the Corvette crowd, so they command top $$. No one seems to wanna mess with them anymore.

That shouldn't be a problem, the way the AVS2 carb works it won't be over carbed. The carbs will deliver what the engine can use and no more.
