    Hey guys,

I am looking for a dual quad setup for my 425 Nailhead. I see Offenhauser makes a low-rise and a high-rise. Edelbrock used to make one and Eelco (please refrain from hissing) makes one. Lastly I know the factory ones are rare.

I have read the Offenhauser low-rise flows poorly... How do the other ones do? (Eelco, Offy High-Rise, Factory & Edelbrock)???

    Thanks,
    Hyfire

    In my experience.
    Edelbrock B262 is the best.
    Factory is second.
Offy's both ****. Can be made better with porting but a lot of work.

Eelco, no idea, I don't/won't deal with Marty, but my understanding is it's an updated copy of an Edelbrock.

Dyno testing has shown a couple of HP increase from the Eelco unit. It is a slightly modified copy of the Edelbrock B262 intake=which until recently has been considered the BEST 2x4 intake for the 401-425.
The factory intakes are not all that rare, just expensive.
The Offy intakes don't perform all that well in 'as cast' form but can be made to perform decent with a little (or a lot) of port work.
Weiand also made a 2x4 intake. No dyno testing has been done on that to my knowledge, but likely is somewhere between the Offy and the factory unit.

I have heard numerous stories about Marty and Eelco. Unfortunately, everyone has the same feelings as Zman stated.

Marty screwed up on here and henceforth pissed some nailhead guys like zman and myself off, so while I'm encouraged to hear about the EELCO intake I will never buy one. Except if I find one used, cuz the money I spend on it won't be in his pockets.

I'm using a high rise Offy on my 401. As noted above, they require a lot of work to get them to flow (mine took tons of runner clean-up and eventually I had it extrude honed). Built decent power on the dyno, but B262s are Weiands are still better if you can find one.

BTW....if you go with an Offy, run straight linkage.
