i need some pix of dual strombergs on a model 'A' 4 banger . most interested in linkage set-up , progression . thank you .. steve
No pics, however, don't run them progressive. Open everything at the same time. I am not an expert, so I called Ron Kelley and discussed at length. Although there is an equalization tube in most intakes, he feels that there is a real risk of leaning out the cylinders closest to the secondary carb. On my banger (which Ron built), I used the arm that came with my winfield re-pop intake and the stock Model A carb linkages. I just cut off the springloaded ends, bent them over 90 degrees, then threaded them to accept lock nuts. These fit right into the lever arm on the intake. To connect the carbs, I used clamps and a rod similar to the ones in Bobs photos above - the black/red overhead with duct-taped carb throats.
Hello..How ever you progress it, if Strombergs are spread apart you may find that you'll run real lean in the front or rear cylinders. Use straight linkage..I've found that Stromberg 81s run really good on 4 bangers.. Duane...
I've done three bangers with dual Strombergs and I use the stock Model A linkage harp that bolts to the rear of the block as a starting point. Also use the forward carb for the choke.
thank you for all the info & pix . im learning & i appreciate the help . especially the pix . ............. steve
