Curios if anyone has tried using a Corvair steering box with the modifications that seem to be fairly common when using F-1 boxes in '32 frames with driver side drag link. I have used the Corvair box to cross steer a '32 more than once and been very happy with its recirculating ball mechanism and I have used Gimmer boxes without being really pleased multiple times. With the aluminum box being easy to weld on and reversing being an option, I thought I would ask before attacking this as a project.

Reverse a Vega box for drag link steering.

Yep....just have to cut down the BIG threaded nut, to make room to install a u-joint. Turn off the nut, and drill 2 holes in the end, so you can use a spanner wrench to turn, what was, the BIG nut.

    How about a 32' box? Or a F1 box?

I will probably use an F-1, which I have. My roadster cross steers with a Corvair and I cross steer my 3W with a Vega. I'm building a flathead chassis and was looking for a better draglink style box that wasn't noticable.

I see. I had a 32' box in a 32' and it steered nice and tight. The f1 box works well and pretty sure the later 46-48? cross steer boxes work well and still traditional.

Scratch this brain fart, Corvair box to short on the housing and sector shaft.
