Dumb FNG Question

I am trying to put my flathead in the 48 tudoor, but I have a small ? problem. Somebody welded in motor mount perches that are about 4" above the original crossmember. I don't know if the original setup was like this? Does anyone have pic's of how the mount's are supposed to look? Thanks!! The motor is an 8BA out of a 51 F5.

 

They may have been using different water pumps than you are. There are a few variations.

 

Do the mount's go down on the crossmember then? Thanks!

 

Original mount location will be a donut shaped dimple on crossmember. If the extensions are indeed Merc '49-51, and that is what they sound like, the hole for the merc mount will be nearly but not quite in line with the Ford hole 4" down.

 

Thanks! I cut off the extensions.,dropped the motor down, fits! Looks good.
