Ok, I'll stick my neck on the line.

There was a thread a while back that newbies could ask dumb quesitons. So, here are some of mine and if you have some ask them. Maybe the guys will take some time to answer them...

    1. Why is the cut-off date for traditional hotrods 1964? Why not 63 or 65? I don't want a fire storm here, just some simple answer.....what happened that year that was signifigant?

    2. I see a lot of car clumbs have a "club house." I see them outfitted with some nice stuff and some of them have a large amount of square footage. How do the clubs afford this? Do they chip in about 100 bucks each, per month?

    3. crap! I forgot the third and most important one! it'll come back later...

Thanks for your patience with the newbies!

    ....let the ribbing BEGIN!

I'm guessing the cut off date is to keep out the Mustangs,Camaros,Gremlins, and Pacers.

ya ive got a dumb question... ROFLMAO

the oil light came on in my flamed hot rod 2004 p/u, so i figured it was low.

i go to autozone and ask the gentleman at the counter if it could be that the oil was low... he told me i should fill it up with synthetic GTX because a lot of street rodders use the stuff, including john force?? dunno who he is, but i guess he is famous LMAO :D

sign me up Mr! LOLOL

so, i buy a case of the stuff and filled it up. JEEZ that stuff is expensive but the guy helping me did a great job and was very knowledgable about street rods, (he has a 76 camero hot rod that runs 16's ).

question is, was i suppose to drain the oil?? the light is STILL ON and the god damn truck doesnt run good AT ALL.

    whats wrong???

Our reasoning for '64 as being the cut off date is to keep Mustangs out. Not that I don't like Mustangs, it's that there's tons of stuff for their cars already. Now if a guy comes in with a '65 Riviera, I'll let him in, shit we let a few post '64 cars in but we're running out of space and we're gonna have to get strict.

    How about high yellow?

Here's a little game I play with my three year old boy. I ask him what color he is, he says, "yellow," I ask him what color his mom is, he says, "yellow," I ask him what color his sister is, he says, "yellow," and finally I ask him what color his daddy is, he says, "brown."

We celebrate our differences, but sometimes I wish I had the 'tools' some of our darker brothers are sporting.

That's what I told my step-dad tonight.......he was questioning (respectfully) WHY I was running a flathead and WHY I wasn't going to "finish" the roadster. I told him that I really like Mustangs, Camaros, Chevelles and Novas, but I'm TIRED of looking at them. I want somthing different.

So, cutting out the stangs and such is a good thing!

What is the third 5 in Tri 5?

i've heard 55 56 and sometimes 57 chevys (the tri-fives) referred to as shoeboxes also. I'm accustomed to calling 49-51 fords shoeboxes. As to where the name came from.. well i asked my dad a while ago when i was a young'n and he told me when he was a kid in the 50s hotrodding everyone thought they looked like shoeboxes...which i kind of shook my head confused because shoeboxes are square...49-51 fords are pretty round...oh well, i'm going with shoebox because everyone knows what the hell you're talking about.

    here's my question:
anyone other than me running a 322 nailhead in a model A??? I'd love to see some pictures of them!:D

Good ?, I've always wondered the same on the shoebox thing...

BobBleed, on here, built a hotrod called the "Fuzz Bomb" and it has a Nailhead. Here is some pics of one of my favorite cars. It has a nailhead. there are some REALLY nice looking cars on here with nailheads......try a search of the archives...

Well, here's some shyte that's been frustrating (to an extent) me.

Why do custom guys call my car a muscle car, muscle car guys call my car a lowrider, and lowrider guys call my car cool? It's more funny to me than anything, but I just like asking.

Why does my chevy 6 see more miles than most small blocks and small block people keep saying 6's don't last?

Why do people dislike when someone "new" comes into their scene and then can be found talking about how whatever their scene revolves around is dying?

    and finally..

    Are we there yet?

Shoes used to come in rounded wooden boxes, built with the same construction technique as used in hoop/stave barrels.

Or else that's some stupid bullshit I just made up.

  29. My nads aren't color enhanced, but sometimes I forget to was my hands before I scratch.

I have 2 questions, why would you ask me where a club gets its money, why wouldn't you ask the club?

And this one is a biggy: I got me a real pair of Levis that are not preshrunk, so now I got these really cool cuffs about 3" tall.

My question is what do I do when I wash 'em? do I leave the cuffs and go looking for a flood or do I roll 'em down? it isn't cool if you don't have cuffs right?
