For the straight axle bug. Do we want to have the shock at the same angle as the front axle (this is what makes sense to me) or do we want it straight up and down?

I searched and couldn't come up with anything although I'm sure this has been covered before.

The shocks work most efficently at 90* to the axle. Anything close will work. You don't want them under about 70*.

Hey thanks alot. But I'm asking about the front to back angle. I'm thinking that the shock should be on the same angle as the spring pad, as in centered between the u bolts. Does this make sense?

  4. Sounds a little confusing, but, the shock cannot bind in it's travel. So, it has to be mounted in such a way so that it's travel is in the same plane as the axle.
If the axle moves straight up and down, the shock must move the same.
As to degrees off the vertical, it will affect how efficient the damper will operate.
