Put the center section back in and slide the axles in. They should go in a lot easier than they came out. you will have to guide em in the side gears in the center then push em in the rest of the way . Dave
Would just tap them back in using a block of wood on the flat face of the axle pad. Thats they way I did it on my 9" I assume the 8" would be the same?
yep. just line up the splines and bonk away. it makes it alot easier if you line the blots on the flange up first,though. and don't forget the small amount of pookie around where it all comes together. small,small amount.
Also, it's kind of obvious, but make sure to clean the outer bearing races & the inside of the ends of the axle tube where the bearings seat, and clean the retaining flanges a little. I've seen people just go to put it all back with it all cruddy and get a little chunk in behind there, then the bearing won't seat all the way. It's cocks the bearing a little then it'll usually develope a bearing roar. Piece o' cake.
Yeah, in my experience, they should just drop in with maybe a slight bit of resistance from the bearing seating. But nothing more...
