So the other night I figured I had better get my radiator hoses for the project. In years past I used air duct hoses from the V.W.s I owned. So as I look around the shop I see a roll of chicken wire. This is what i came up with.
True story, went into Home Depot about a year ago, was asked if I needed help, told him I wanted chicken wire. I knew where it was but wanted him to feel useful. He led me back to the wire fence section, looked around a bit and pulled out a roll of wire. "Sorry sir, no chicken wire but we do have poultry wire, will that work?."
Amazon has it, by the Gates number. Only $13. I 'matched one up' at O'Reilly's, kind of a 'stretch-fit', over $20. Had to have the hose, so I got it... Thanks for the 'tech'...the #20242 hadn't come up at NAPA, TBA, or O'Reilly. I now have this one coming.
Tim: I'm pretty sure I used 55-57 chevy lower hose on my cabrio. I did use gas tank filler neck hose on my '32 pickup. Looks like you've got it handled anyway.
I've use the VW aluminum expandable heater ducts for years, you can flex it to any shape and it will retain that shape. HRP
Either way beats the snot out of hauling an armload of hoses home to the garage to see what "might" work and hauling the ones that don't work back.
The VW expandable heater ducts look like the GM "snorkel's" from exhaust manifold to air cleaner that I've used for years.
The clerk was right. Poultry wire and chicken wire are not the same. One has bigger holes than the other. My favorite was the kid at the hardware store. I asked where they keep the pop rivets, he said 'what's a pop rivet'. True story.
Pop passed away a couple years back but his daughter Cherry Rivet is holding fast in the business... Rusty, good idea. Thanks
Ha Ha went to the local "chain" auto-parts store and asked for a breaker point conversion kit. Kid replied, "What are breaker points?"

I'm putin together a 27 Chandler that's getting a 4.3 and 4L60e from a 2003 astro, a front axle from a 52 chevy and an explorer rear end. The guys at the parts store have got to think I'm crazy because I keep buying parts for all kinds of cars. I have to look everything up before hand on various sites to see what uses it before I go in cause if it ain't in the puter it don't exist! So far I've got some Camaro, Impala, Explorer and half ton chevy parts. But the good news is so far everything has been pretty easy to source. Now if I can only remember what car what part came from when I need replacements.
