  1. I thought the S stood for Second on those. And I had a Pontiac with that trans. Two D positions (one high gear, one third gear), S, L, R.

    41rodderz likes this.
  2. How about the little kid with ice cream cone and sticky fingers walking past all the cars while running his sticky fingers from the front fender to the trunk lid. Also had a women running her ring finger across front of my hood when it was in primer and leaving a scratch, oh its only primer.

If I had a nickle for every time somebody, said my '29 DeSoto, was Desoto, and not a ford... I'd have about a nickle.

guy at work looking at pic of my dad's 56 studebaker sky hawk says,
    "what year volvo is that????!"

me - "its called a studebaker, ever heard of em?"

    Got two for you!
Last Saturday I went to a local cruise and the guy says to me "You still got a lot of work to do on this thing of yours." My answer of course "Oh I thought it was done?"

Another time. " Can I see under the hood?" My reply "Sure" His reaction "Wow! That is a nice big block in there! What is it a 396? or a 454?" My answer "Its a 327...hmmmm"
    :)

I always got a kick out of my old man .

After reading all the horror stories of " People touching my car" etc . My dad was just the opposite . Yall would really like him , he kinda helped out the other car guys by drawing all the touchy feely types over to his ride.

See we had this sweet little 47 international kb pickup , sat it on 74 chevy fort frame , big n little cragars , it was a sweet little truck in black primer .

When he would pull up to a car show , he would set 2 or 3 big pails of crayola sidewalk chalk on the running board , and let the folks n kids have at it . We had folks sign thier names from all over , some folks would get creative with flames and spider webs etc. Ill never forget one night a fella found the chalk on the running board and spent almost an hour and a half flaming out the entire truck . Looked pretty neat , and the great thing about it is we could take pics and then run it through the car wash and it would all be gone lol.

    Heres the truck.

    That is friggin' COOL!

Props to your old man for enjuoying his truck the way he wanted. Bet lots of people the next day could not remember most of the cars they looked at at the show, but I bet they remembered that truck for a long time. :)

I had a primer problem too. lady walks right up with her boyfriend, and takes her camera out of her bag, sets up to take a picture with him, puts the bag right on the trunk and the little metal pegs on the bottom gives and it slides down to the bumper. I'm kinda looking at both of them like "What the fuck?", and she goes "Sorry, Well at least it doesnt look nice yet." then her so called 'man' pokes in, "yeah, aint so bad with this shitty paint." I just sit for a second, give a laugh and then walk off.

A few years ago I had a 64 T-Bird for sale, asking $800 and it had a current clear title and was complete and not rusty. It ran but smoked and one guy passed because "It wouldnt pass the emission ck" He must have thought he could find a driver for cheap.I was laughing pretty hard while I wished him good luck.

come on, man. is this really necessary? this is a thread dedicated to making fun of the ignorant, not being a proponent of it. how about we keep anything racial to ourselves, ok?

the one i love the best was a guy telling his buddy, Ya, you had to order those with a six cylinder,(54 chevy) or a real mechanic was looking under the hood while it's runnung and walks over to me and says "hey you need to tighten down that distibutor before you mess something up"(vacuum advance) what got me is he did it under his breath so I would'nt look stupid.

  23. Every time I see this car it warps my brain a little.:) Thank you.

Happens every show to my 65 Ranchero..next question is "Why dont you paint it" Well, I like the Patina.

Whats Patina? seems to be the standard response.

I went down to Tucci's monthly cruise-in this past monday. I drove my rat rod to a show that was 90% high dollar street rods. While i was there i had a conversation with a guy that has a roadster. Some how we got on the subject of "traditional rods" and "rat rods". I dont think this guy knew that there was a difference. He seemed to think that all old hot rods were "rat rods"

Then he goes onto tell me about this really great site he knows that is dedicated to just rat rods, nothing but rat rods.....

He was talking about the H.A.M.B.

  27. This site is definitely a trendsetting engine for the movement. However the term 'rat rod' is going to be here a while. I get people wanting to buy the car in my avatar because they "Whoa-nuh beeld uh rat rod".

    don't we all.........................
