I am curious to know more about flathead Lincoln V-12 heads with cast in "Duntov." A pair was seen in a '32 Ford on the lower floor at the 2011 Detroit Autorama.

Duntov was the name of the guy who created the "ARDUN" overhead valve conversions for flathead V8s.

I never heard of an overhead conversion for the Lincoln V12. Anyone else?

I think the letters were glued on the heads.

The Allard company made race cars in England during the 1930' with at least 2 or three powered with flathead Lincoln V-12's by 1938 (?). After WWII, manufacturing resumed and Allard asked Zora Arkus-Duntov, manufacturer of the Ardun ohv V-8 flathead conversion and Corvette developer, to help with overheating problems in V-12's (?) and Flathead V-8's. The whole Allard racing program was altered in the late 40's or early '50's when it changed over to Cadillac 331's to avoid overheating issues. Later other ohv engines were used.

At one point, Duntov owned a V-12 powered Allard.

If the heads at Detroit are period genuine, I cannot determine exactly when they were used and how many were cast.

And here, I was imagining an OHV conversion on the flathead V12 ... oh well. It was nice while it lasted.

I'll admit, it fooled me from a distance. Had to walk up and look at it.

Another pic of that same engine from Detroit 2010. Now I'm wondering if the Duntov Bros ever made any OHV heads for the Lincoln V-12. Probably not, but I learned on the HAMB about the Ardun heads for the V-8 60, which I never knew existed before. I've been surprised before. Many times.

Question: Why are float bowls facing rear. Same as the "ARDUN" Linc at Detroit. What's the deal?

You'd be right with the "not" part.

Agreed. Anyone knows what an Ardun is knows that ain't it. And anyone who doesn't know it doesn't matter anyway...

Why can't he just be happy to have a V12 in his car without making it tacky? It's different enough as it is.
