I was looking for POR15 and this was on the shelf next to it and looks similar for less money. I may take it back and get the real deal POR15 but thought I would check with the experts first. I plan on using it for painting the inside surface of the side cover on my model t banger. Will it last when subjected to oil, ***uming I follow proper preparation instructions? I wouldn't use that. If the inside of your cover is rusty, I would suggest blasting or wire brushing the rust off to clean metal and leave it bare.
I haven't tried that product yet we do experiment with different products at school during our bus build, we used rustolium rusty metal primer on our core support and inner fenders removed all the loose rust and sprayed, a year later and thousands of miles it still looks great but for the inside of an engine I think I would soak it in rust remover and leave it bare
Ah, that was funny. Ive tried a lot of spray and brush on rust converters and been disappointed every time (1-2 years later) POR 15 is the only thing thats worked for me over rust. Im still not sold on it because it has peeled on me on non rusted areas. Getting the rust killed is key, just wire wheeling it, the rust is still kicking. Mol***es, acid, evaporust etc. Anything to get the rust process neutralized, tyen remove the chemical. This allows paint of your choice to go directly on steel.
Rustoleum Rust Reformer actually converts rust to a paintable surface. I've been using it forever with great results. Check out my Thread with a picture of the rattle can. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/49-styleline-deluxe-project-frankenstyle.1079870/page-3
