It is a shame that so many of us are so far apart. Thank goodness for the HAMB though as we'd all be holed up in our little shops like mad scientists with nobody to share our insanity with!!! I was thinking the same too about here being so many banger lovers here. They really are fun to mess with. Also, it's good to know that I'm not the only one with the sickness!!!

Finally got some glass in my windshield frames and remounted the whole she-bang with a little bit of lean back. I'd been paining over the idea of pie cutting and leaning the botom posts back but after consulting with BRENT and some others, I decided to just lean them back a bit and re-drill a couple of the mounting holes on each side and will fill in the one that's left showing. I did a bit of work with the hammer and will need more to really shape them to the cowl but for now, I'm happy. Also, I don't want a severe lean to it as I didn't want to hit the steering wheel and I'm also going to eventually run a chopped down top on it. This technique saved me from butchering my bottom posts. Plus, I've never really liked the looks of the 26-27 posts cut and leaned back. I think that they have too much going on towards the bottom where they mount to end up looking right when cut. Too many compound curves an such. Anyways....here she is now with glass and leaned a bit.

I just read this whole thread. What an awesome car! One of my favorites on here that I have seen so far. I wish I could run across some of the parts to build something like that.

Thank you for the kind remarks! It's been a pretty fun project so far. As far as the parts go, there's really nothing to fancy or difficult to find. It's just taken a while and mainly limited by my budget and time....or lack there of!!!

Pinocchio's a real boy! I like the posts leaned back like that. Been thinking about something similar. Can't wait to try it when a windshield frame shows up.

Mark, the more I thought about it and then mocked them up this way, the more I liked it. It was easy and gave me just the amount of lean I was looking for. I could have rotated them back another quarter to half inch but they would have been too close to the wheel and I would have had to do some more, major hammer work to get the bases to conform to the cowl. I like it for now anyway!!!

Thanks! I'm not sure how cool it is but it's all old for sure!

I didn't think about that until you mentioned it but I guess for now anyway, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to fill a couple of small holes in on the cowling when the entire body is full of them!! Plus....I'd never match the "paint" just right!!! :D

  11. That looks great Bugs! Very cool.

Thanks, Man! It's coming along. I've been bombing it around the neighborhood lately but haven't taken it on any long runs. I'm working on my throttle linkage so I can get the new inake that BCCHOPIT (Bill) fabbed up for me. Also, finally got the Whippet radiator back from the shop and will install it and the grille shell soon. I have to fab up some mounting brackets for it and will have to do some plumbing to get it to work with the banger. You know how it is....you're never really done!!

Thanks, Bro!! I just need to plumb it and fab up a way to mount it. I'm trying to get the new intake installed with the 94. I'm working on the throttle linkage now. Really wanting to get this down-draft carb going!!!

Whoa, I missed it. The lean back rules. You nailed it.

HA!! I'm sneaky like that!! Thanks man...I'm pretty happy with it. I also appreciate your feedback and advice on the lean back. I'm glad that I didn't pie-cut them and this was a super, easy deal. It's also pretty fitting for the car because nothing about this build has involved any major tools or skills or heavy modifications.

Thank you!!! Yes...I'm guilty of telling Jay that I'll make it to something and never seem to be able to. I kind of jinx myself by spouting off ahead of time so maybe this year, I just will keep my mouth shut and show up!!!

    hey Bugsy

Have you thought about lowering it a few inches or are you happy with how it sits?

Kume...I do plan on dropping it down a bit over the winter (along with a bunch of other things on the list!!). I have a T, rear spring that I'm going to take a couple of leaves out of and then I'm going to reverse the front and take a couple of leaves out there too. I'm also going to put friction shocks on it and Ted's brake floater kit.

Yeah...it looks OK but does sit too high at the moment.

The T looks great, I like that it's a straight frame, the ride height looks great as is, but a bit lower wouldn't hurt. Regaurding your headlights and the Whippit grille, would T headlights be too big? Again GREAT job on the T:)

HAHAHA!! No kidding...we would look like a couple of circus bears riding around in it!!

Thanks! Much appreciated! Yeah, I don't hate the height that it is and not really looking to go super low with it as it wouldn't fit the era that I'm going for but the T spring and reversed front spring ought to do it just right!

I like the looks of the T headlights and have thought about them. I also like the early 30's Chevy lights too. I'm a bit concerned that the current lights actually may look too big (kind of do already) with the Whippet grille....I'll just have to see!! I have to get off my ass as usual and get after it again. Too many other distractions and projects taking up my time!

I think it looks great at that height. Clayton's sits proud like yours, too. I'd try installing the T spring without too many mods, first, so you don't drop the butt farther than you'd want.
