Not that I know of, but it sounds like she could be a virtual-twin to my wife(at times)... ;D . Marcus...
For the last 13 days I have been moving everything from one shop to the other. My gosh, I must be a hoarder. It's been 5 -6 trips in a 24' enclosed race car trailer and countless tripz with my 5x10 enclosed trailer. It's coming to a close. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel....... Maybe one more small trailer load, then I have to clean the shop. It's in need of some love.
Geesh man, please call yourself a "collector". If some around here get wind of how much cool stuff you have you will be labelled as one of those guys that ruin it for everyone else because you have all the good shit and they can't find any.
Careful there...that's cutting close to home. LOL I've been moving ONE shelving unit from the shop to the shed this last week and decided I would try hard to cull stuff I don't need and no longer fits any projects I have going. How many dead starters and alternators does one guy need? LOL Glad you are coming close to the end of getting it all moved over!
No Mark, we have to empty the shop before we put it up for sale. There’s no way I could move in 48 hours like they always want. I have been on “vacation” for 2 weeks and pulling 12 hour days. We will have to sell the house in order to finance the rest of the build. We will be living in my luxurious 17’ Avalair Travel Trailer. God help us.
If Y’all can survive building a house and a Daughter’s wedding . A few months in a travel trailer should be a piece of cake
Man It's been cool watching you work towards living your dream ! I appreciate you sharing with us. This is the shit that keeps me hanging out here so many years. It inspires me greatly seeing what other like minded DIY Hot Rodders can achieve. Go Man Go !! PS: I sure hope you have a shop/housewarming party. I'd love to see this deal in person !
around here you can't move anything into new construction until it is finished and they have completed inspections and granted you occupancy.... things must be different there
I’ve had several friends who have done that…get the building up, sell the other house and live in the “barn” in their camper while they finish the “dominium”. You got this!
Well, funny you should say that Kurte. I built some walls around the travel trailer out of shelving and boxes. I am enclosing the travel trailer and walls with plastic sheeting. It will be a makeshift living room. The plastic is to keep the construction dust off of everything. My father in law used to do this at deer camp every year. We called it "plastic land". I helped him set it up for 30 years, so I have that down pat.
You'll be alright. My wife and I survived 8 years of over the road team trucking living weeks at a time in sleepers way smaller than your trailer.
I'm worn out just reading all of what you have going Chris. I don't envy you at all. Other than downsizing into a cardboard box inside a shop someday, I hope to be done with moving lots of stuff. I still haven't even emptied the semi trailer that I packed lots of "treasures" in on my last move about 6 or 7 years ago. I was supposed to put all that "stuff" in my new shop, but not sure it would fit now with all the other "stuff"...
So, the goal is to get it all moved into the shop, put the house up for sale, then finish the construction. I’ll sort it all as I put it away. That’s when the swap meet parts get sorted. Right now, it looks like a hoarders paradise.
chickasaw??? I have always wanted to go, but people tell me it is not worth the 10 plus hour drive...
It's not worth the drive anymore. It used to be a great swap, then they started arguing about the cost of the rental facility (which was cheap) and they ruined it by moving the swap to an empty field next door. It's a mudhole. Rains evey year. People were pissed, so they quit coming. It used to be on par with Hershey etc. Now it's a local swap at best. We like Decatur, Texas and Sapulpa, OK. With that said, the new house/shop is 15 minutes from Chickasha, so I will probably attend more now.
Not a lot of progress lately. It's been too freaking cold. I did farm out the lift removal and setup. It wasn't cheap, $800, but we are approaching the anniversary of me falling and breaking my shoulder and back tomorrow, mama said take no chances.... I agreed. They took it down with a forklift, moved it 40 miles and reassembled it at the new shop. Well worth it to me.
