Ive searched here but thought I would ask soe questions and see if I can get some help. I got a 63 Invicta 401 and Dynaflow. It leaks as all seem to do. A little is coming from the conv\front pump area. But today I pulled it on the garage to work on the front end and noticed a huge puddle under it. After looking I have came to the conclusion it dumped it out of the vent tube. First thought it was too full because I added to it last time I drove it. But after I seen the puddle I went to back it up a little in the garage and it wouldnt take gear like it was too low. I have read that it can be the torque ball seal? I have only seen a seal for earlier Dynaflows. Any ideas as to why it puked that much out. I had jacked it up and got the front tires off the ground before noticing the puddle. I hate leaks and its driving me crazy. thanks

61-63 Dynaflows were all mated to open drivelines. They did have a rear seal, but no torque ball seals, because no torque ball. 1960 was last year of the torque tube closed driveline with torque ball.

Any idea why iy would puke out the over flow? The level wasnt too high. I moved it probably 100 yards from one building to another and there was no trail of fluid only a huge puddle where i parked in the garage. Probably 5 minutes after I noticed it. And got under it and seen fluid in the vent tube.

I know that this must sound redundant, but did you check the fluid with the car level, engine warmed up, and transmission in Park or Neutral? If you have then I would think that the transmission must be building up a huge amount of pressure for the transmission to leak out the vent pipe. The transmission may be leaking elsewhere, like the dipstick tube o-ring or pan gasket and splashing back onto the vent pipe. Some pics might help, in the meantime I will look into the Dynaflow manual.

I don't know if the Dynaflow's are vented with a separate vent from the dipstick tube, but it sounds like you may have a plugged vent on the tranny case.

Overheated transmissions can push oil out of the vent.
