Not to fret, the car was just finished for SEMA and as far as I know there were no build photos posted on the HAMB. If the "patina" on the full version looks anything like the 1/2 car version in person, most folks wouldn't know it was "fake".
While Loogy's presentation is certainly more classic and pleasing to the eye, I really like the personality that car has with it's present chop. It's kind of... corky... or something. I can't help it, I just like it... As for the patina, I don't care how "real" it looks... I think fake stuff like that cheapens the original intent. That is just me though... I know a lot of folks love that stuff.
Sure! That was the first thing I noticed, and to be honest the only feature I really like on the car. Is the wheelbase stretched or is that new grill just moved forward? I like the pitina and color conbination, just can't get used to the angled chop and that grill.
Notice the license plate is upside down,to make it say 666. If it was another full fendered 3W done in red with a sbc, that would be boring. I'm gonna buy one and chop and channel it.Solid lifter 283,4 speed, posi. Paint it with a brush.Burn rubber at every light !
As for the chop........maybe Josh's shop floor isn't level. Those guys did a Plymouth coupe that had a similar wedge. I like the car. Funky grille shell, weird chop, fake patina, etc.... All of it. I like it. I think I like it though because I see it as a rolling advertisement, a billboard per se. I see it as a piece of art - not necessarily a car. I know Josh will drive the snot out of it though. Still, I think I'll see it more as art & not necessarily a car. To me, it's a one-of-a-kind piece of "automobilia". Not much different from the neon clock, Shell gas pump, or Coca-Cola fishtale sign hanging in my garage. Take some of the crazy, amazing, creative artwork we see here on Fridays. From time to time a piece pops up that is twisted & funky & looks great on canvas or paper but to actually sink the time & $$ into a real version???? No one would ever do it because the concept is too low, too chopped, too "whatever"..... but there's no denying that it looks awesome on paper or canvas. Josh just had the concept, time, talent, & backing that allowed him to do his in steel. Good for him. Reminds me of Steve Grimes' one man modifieds. Josh is a true talent & has been a real nice guy to me when we've spoken in the past. Wish he could find a way to contribute here. We could all learn a lot. Wouldn't it have been nice to have been able to see the Dynaliner Coupe come together? JH
I think the wedge chop would work if the car had some rake, for me it sits to flat, and the front tires are way too tall.
Damn... Guess better late than never to reply to these great comments and Questions. lol. It sometimes takes me 6 years to think about things. ------------------------------------------ VAPHEAD- The front spring was close when we left Cincinnati with 27 miles on the car.. It settled and WAS touching by the time we hit Vegas! Well, almost touching. 1/8 " away. No biggie. It happens, and since Posie was with us on the trip it gave us ammunition to tease him about it. The Tag is AU (for gold) and 999 cause of Henry Fords 1st Race car.. It is hwld in place by a HUGE magnet glued to it. The "Devil" in me would flip it upside down EVERY chance I'd get. ...and speaking of the "Devil".. as I recall, every time we've hung out was at a show, and usually in the Hotel Bar. I usually drink when I hang out in a bar. SINISTER CUSTOM- (and Zac) Bump steer "fear" is overated.. ALL axle/drag link cars have bumpsteer.. Some worse than others. Some you can "feel" and some you can't. This is 80+ year old Suspension and steering technology here.. If your worried that much about bumpsteer I recomend a nice Shinny Vega box, or possibly some IFS and a rack. Truth is, we just don't give a shit and would rather look cool in other areas- (Under the dash = Foot room) LOOGY- Thanks for your efforts. Pretty cool. I still like my version though. As for the Chop, I wanted the car to have a mean, "Eyebrows down" look.. Not a tall windshield "Pixar-Cars toon" look. I fear tall windshields. As for the Hood going "up wards" its just that picture.. View the car in person, get a striaght edge out and check it out. It's where it should be.. But, again.. like the PATINA. To each his own, and I respect your tastes too. CRAZY DADDY- Thanks! That hood was a bitch. I made it out of TWO hoods. Tman- Your welcome! (For building a Hot Rod to show you how not to build your own.) KEVIN LEE- Dude, I laughed OUT LOUD at that picture comparison! We actually saw that back in 06' and printed it off and hung it in Dynamats shop. Thank you! J Shaw
Yes, Kevin has some experiance recognizing the potential in trash cans. And I do like the car. Wish that flathead was in my coupe....
Kevin, that is super cool. I'm not a super-huge fan of the track nose, but using a domestic trash bin is just brilliant. Now I'm looking at everything with new eyes - the wife had better watch out - eveything in the house is now fair-game!!! Thank you.
it's one of the coolest cars around. I saw it a couple years ago in Louisville. It was covered with road grime, leaking a little guilds here and there. Driven dirty.
