  1. OK! A little jealous on those wheels. Nice work on the frame, can't tell it was bent at all from the pix. I took advantage of this beautiful afternoon to do a little engine work. :D

  18. does that canted valve rule apply to early hemis ? a 291 desoto can really be made to scream and dodge made them in 315 and 325 inchers but those are hard to get, as i dont ever see any around here except in the poly head version. im into high deck desotos and find low decks (276-291) all over. im thinkin as a desoto 341 can be bored out a ton and a 291 crank wud destroke it, that thing wud scream in a rail ? but canted valves right ? the polys had canted intakes as well. also i may not have read the rules of so far but are we allowed aluminum flywheels ? how about con rods ? sounds like alot of fun, thanks for your effort, as i know it takes alot and alot dont appreciate much. sincerely, the shoe

The old small cube HEMI's are welcome. The engine rules are kinda open, I figure we can check Cubic Inch, type of piston and valve train when the need arises but I don't plan on pulling any engines down:D I'm hoping the 9" tire and carb rule will equalize the cars at Eagle Field 'cause I don't plan on any traction aid ever being applied.

I've been slackin', done some work to the car without posting any pictures so I thought an update is in order.
I found a manifold (on loan from a good friend) and need to build the carbs as soon as I save up the DOUGH...........
The cars Anti-rotation device wasn't to my liking so I fabbed up a plate and will replace the x-member that it mounts too. The original one is on the left..........
The frame has had alot of brackets added that I'm in the process of removing.....
Man I love the wheels, Lee even had them polish the slots! I picked up some used 9x30 GoodYears (radials) and mounted them up, I also have some 9x30 Hoosier Radials that I'd like to see if the guys at HURST could cap up............
The poor old car has had some "cobbled" additions over the years including the rear end, they mounted a safety strap that didn't even cover the ring gear.... and it wasn't pretty:D
    [IMG]
I decided I'm going to try and restore the front end back to original as I can get it right now, I'm thinking of even replacing the cage with an original style 3 point, anyway here's the progress..................
Fabbed up a new steering arm also...................
It seems that not much detail was given to the brackets on the car so I've been redoing them to make them symmetrical and smooth. Here are the Torsion arms I shortened and ground to my satisfaction................
When I went to pick up the trailer "pink" I was given this beauty...........
I'm really trying to get the car together so we can have some fun with Tim, Carl and a couple of others in May. After the May event I hope to lower the drivers position and change the cage. More to come, HOPEFULLY SOON! Rocky

I'm thinking we could consider a 10" "capped" tire from Hurst. Whatta you guys think?

  23. I don't mind if he runs 10s. That's what I bought when I was given 10" wheels and I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy a set of 9s right away.

  29. Thanks! It's about ready to be on it's own four feet, just need to make sure all the little spots are welded while the car can be flipped on its back. It's real close though, I can just taste it. :D

Where did you get the PA system? Looks like Cold War Air Raid warning type stuff.

Nice work so far. When you weld on the new steering arm to the disassembled spindle, you're going to have to put a slight twist to the arm because of the caster angle. When the front wheels are straight forward, the drag link heim joint should be at zero angle, 90 degrees to the spindle steering arm. Check the steering travel distance of the arm lock to lock. You may want to add some 1/2 x .058 CM cross tubes and diagonal to the bottom main tube, 28'' apart for the cross tubes and a diagonal, postioned left front to right side of the rear cross tube(24'' in front of the motor)to control chassis twist.
