That save on the Malibu was AWESOME! Thank god he stayed out of the wall. I was too busy trying to help cars get to the right places all day to snap pics but I did get 2! My wife and I camped out in the field the night before and were the only ones in a tent!!! It was very windy, but all in all the most fun we have ever had volunteering. Here's one of our campsite before "Staff" breakfast, and one quick snap from in front of the announcers booth. Rocky, Taryn and I both thank you very much for allowing us to help with such an amazing event. All the racers/spectators, there were tons of you, and only one unruly jerkoff. He was an ass to me, then I found out he was an ass to my Wife. Good thing I found that out on the way home. Skip, I believe you were in the reg booth when he was being rude to the girls. Either way, one bad egg in that whole crowd is a true testament to what this hobby, and lifestyle are all about.

I'm kicking myself for missing this event... Busted the bank at dragfest, never do that again. Eaglefield is more my style. Great pics from GooseNZ.

Learned my lesson and will not miss another. "Can't wait for the next Eaglefield event later this year".

    Aye!

Everyone had to sign a personal liability waiver just to get in the gate! That set the tone for the day! This thing was more FUN than anything I've been to in a very long time, and I'm pretty sure my 11-year-old grandson is now a car guy for life. The wind, the dust, seeing all the older rods racing each other, the full track burnouts, and street machines making up for their lack of traditional flash by doing ballet piroutes at half track, wow. Rocky, you're the Man, and the volunteers you had working did a great job.

We also enjoyed the hangar, man you can still smell and feel the WW2 vibe in that place. The planes, the tank and the howitzer out back, thanks to the man who saved Eagle Field so we can enjoy it.

Exactly! This was an eye opener for me. I really enjoyed the vibe of the place, and the museum was really cool! Of course, seeing "The Spirit of The San Joaquin" w/ her nose art still intact was quite a treat!

The BEST car show/event/race/etc. I have EVER attended. I grew up in Dos Palos and it is nice to see this type of event being held at Eagle Field.

Thank you all for attending and the kind words. All the volunteers did a great job and worked there butts off and pulled off something historic in my eyes. I've only heard stories about the first "BIG" race at Bakersfield in the 50's but I think we got a taste of it and conquered. Everybody I spoke to was very happy even with the wind and the dust. The event will continue pretty much as is with some adjustments with those who "Get It" returning. We are not trying to create another March Meet, we are just trying to be able to step back in time and relive some basic Drag Racing. So to those who want to join us in some "Living History" (as Joe describes it) join us in October for the Eagle Field Hot Rod Gathering "Runway Drags", 1965 and earlier (NO EXCEPTIONS) event and again don't forget your EZ ups and chairs. PLEASE send me an email to lbrtoys@yahoo.com to get on my Eagle Field contacts list if you are interested in racing as events in the future may require pre-registration FOR RACERS.
I'm still going through my information to ID the Class favorites and will post the winners soon, also the posters are available for $4 ea plus shipping to anyone interested. Thanks again, Rocky

No problem. It was the least I could do since they wouldn't let me run...had to have a full face helmet for my '64 ragtop, and I brought an open face. Pretty much sucked. I asked around, but couldn't find anyone to sell or loan me one.

Of course after I got home I recieved word that there a couple I could have borrowed a couple spaces over from me in the pits...

Good meeting you Ben, hope you had as much fun as we did.

Good meeting you too Tim, You built a beautiful rail, plenty to be proud of.

Rocky, the meet is your vision. You had the idea and put it all together. We had a great time in spite of not having our HA/GR done and there. Keep up the good work!!
