No track prep, it's going to be virgin!:D

  2. And I was going to PM you (about 9:00 PM) and ask why you hadn't posted it yet...

I found out about the HR article when I went to pick the girls up from cheer practice at Washington Union (they like dad picking them up in the "Hot Rod").

A buddy of mine picking up his daughters, told me about it and also said he saw my car in the article (in its previous primer stage, and minus the now installed front & rear windshields - parked by the staging lane entrance down track). OK, so I'm stoked.

Guess what I'm buying first thing in the A.M.?
(I blew off my HR subscription earlier this year - guess I owe them a re-up)

Here's a message I sent to everyone on my email list and decided to cut and paste here. Rocky

With less than a month to go I thought I'd cover some highlights of the 2nd annual Hot Rod Gathering. First Elmer "Unsprung" Snyder is our guest of honor with his original Dragster he built in the 50's that raced stars like "TV" Tommy Ivo. Elmer's Dragster will grace all the event collectibles which include the Event Shirts printed on sight (in Eagle Fields HANGER) by the Shirt Shak in and Metal Signs, Clocks available at the Bellair Motorsports (http://bellairmotorsports.com/) Trailer in vendor row.
I have attached the event site map to make to make your day much more enjoyable with changes including TECH inspection in front of the Hanger, no obstructions viewing the track from the spectator side, race car staging moved to the "START" end of the track, with only Mini Bikes, Towed race cars returning to their pit in front of the spectators, twice the toilets of our previous events (placed near the start line and after the finish line) and more staff to keep the line getting in flowing smoothly.
NO ONE with the exception of RACERS CREW, EVENT STAFF, and registered PRESS will be allowed to watch racing from TRACK SIDE or the FAR SIDE (no farther down track than the start line). Spectators must remain behind the taped line, Racer's Crew (only 2 per car who must sign in at racer registration) will be allowed to watch their car run, then must return to the spectator side of the tape and NO SPECTATORS ON THE FAR SIDE will be allowed. If at any time this becomes a problem Racing will be stopped until we reorganized to satisfy our Insurance requirements.
We are also doubling our Security Officers to help us with keeping people out of harms way and to watch for Alcohol as Eagle Field has a NO ALCOHOL (for human consumption[IMG]), PLEASE everyone let's control this problem and not jeopardize future events. Racers will have a "participant" sticker applied to their car by the TECH inspectors and only allowed to run with this sticker, please remind your inspector if he forgets.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, San Joaquin Valley Modelers Club will be collecting Model kits (paint, brushes, glue, etc.) to send oversees to our Troops. The collection of kits along with a Model "Make and Take" for the kids and RAFFLE (get entered free by showing your admittance ticket with more tickets available at an affordable price) will be held in the Museum near the front gate, check it out!
The November issue of HOT ROD Magazine has a great story on Eagle Field and the Kingdon Reunion. Looks like we are on to something and our plans are to continue holding the 2 events a year, our safety record must continue to shine and this requires everyone to enjoy themselves within the rules. Racers need to remind themselves each time they line up the event is for fun and on an Air Strip / Runway and show some control. Please RACE SAFE, No Alcohol and lets have a GREAT Time! See ya Oct. 9th, Rocky

  5. Does that mean that I'll now have to have "people", who'll get back to other people's "people"???

  7. That'll work..., picking at the airfield little by little will make it a nice destination for racers and military buffs alike (any plans to do a warbird/hot rod races week-end?)

  8. 23 days till we leave but who's counting......got the blessing of the NHRA Gods this monday, I'm stoked............see ya there Roc

  9. Kind of doubt I'll be racing my '60 "Earl", but the goal is to be there with him...

Sort of a mad thrash at this point. Heading to mctim64's place Saturday to pick up a fresh 478" Caddy to replace the 500 that expired on the way home from the May event...gonna be a thrash, but it's doable!

All kidding aside those who don't pass tech get their money back, like Royal said.
