Hey guys, I'm going with a friend tonight to look at an early 1955 Chevy truck. It's a 3/4 ton and I'm wondering if there is any difference other than suspension from the 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton trucks? Just confirming the body, cab, bed and such are all interchangeable. Just by looking around they appear to be the same but I haven't found any hard facts. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Bed is longer,as is the wheelbase, the front axle/spindles and hubs are different- 8 lug hubs/wheels, the rear axle is also different, the frame is different from the cab back. The cab and front sheet metal is the same. The front springs are the same. There are no disc brake kits that fit the 8 lug spindles or hubs that I know of.

I personally prefer the longer bed, but that is a matter of personal taste. The AD group on here is large and active, and can give you a lot more help. Jim

Wow that's a lot of help, thanks. So are the 47-54 parts all interchangeable other than the grill?

The later cabs have a one piece wrap around windshield instead of the flat gl*** two piece like in the earlier trucks.
