This is Sonny Willetts 34 Chevy Master 2 dr sedan from about 1964/5 at the Ramrods DC. armory show. At that time this was the last and best show of the circuit. It's got a 394 Olds Rocket engine and a hydro. I bet it had a 57 Olds rear too. 34 was the first year for that funky Chevy suspension so he removed it and put an early Ford suspension under it complete with transverse spring, radius rods and all. The engine had some special NASCAR parts in it that could be special ordered from the dealership. Notice the Ford M/cyl. regulator and ballast resistor all detailed and shown proudly. He made his own fenderwell headers and exhaust. If you look real close you can see an upright welded to the tube in the wheelwell. When he first drove it, the heat bubbled the paint on the fenders so he built a thin heat shield supported by these uprights. That fixed the problem. This is what a clean engine compartment looked like in the early 60s Nothing was hidden but everything was detailed to the max. Clean, clean, clean. I joined the PG Kustoms a few years after this picture was taken. We had a club outing to 75&80 Drag-a-way on a Wed. night "test and tune" night. Sonny blew his hydro and I blew my engine. I understand the car still exists. It sure made an impression on me.
