Think you replied to the wrong post. This looks like an Olds engine to me with the siamesed center exhaust ports.

(edit: Were you intending to reply to the post directly above the OP?)

  11. Surprised that no one has any info/pics about the "Vandal".......anyway I've just got to work out how to change an AMT 1/25th Hippy Hemi kit( its the Garlits Wynns Jammer) into something approximating the Vandal frame, will use a spare Model A front axle & cobble that body from something........lol.......decals might be an issue.......lol........andyd

Don't think I've ever seen this done.
Look at the "hinged" (chain)...nose. Quick access, and no chance of someone stepping on it !

    1958 Nationals

    Hello,

Here is one of the most unusual photos from the 1958 U.S. Nationals. It is an Altered Fiat Coupe being rolled up into a modified bus with full windows and a work bench for being close by and handy.

Trailers were the other 99% of race car transportation at the time. Mostly single axle trailers or in one case, a ramp truck with a winch to pull up the smaller race car.

Hot rod folks are the most ingenious problem solvers around. In hot rod builds to modifying a ch***is/motor to fit the scenario, it takes all kinds. The most common method of bringing a modified hot rod to the drags was to tow it attached to the front bumper brackets. But, the small workshop was usually left behind.

This full window bus was the right size to fit the Fiat Altered and had space to have a workbench and storage inside, alongside of the Altered Coupe’s locked down, traveling position.

Prudhomme's first dragster, Bakersfield...he bought it from Tom Ivo, couldn't afford injectors, so went with carbs. Bill Scharing photo

Rodney Singer from Texas ran this blown Cadillac powered dragster --- he ran Karol Miller's blown Lincoln, winning top eliminator at the 1959 NHRA Nationals
