    Anyone notice this ?
    On Roland's car, dual parachutes, long before the NHRA made it mandatory.

    That lettering is all hand lettered too, no press-on graphics!

    @Stan Back

    Hello,

    Nice capture of the early version of Scotty’s Muffler Service Modified Roadster. It was one heck of a build and fast race/show car. The idea of “if is does not go, chrome it…” is a misnomer in this case !!!

    Look at what is underneath!!!

    All of the versions of the build were pretty outstanding. It was an excellent way to advertise the muffler business. When we saw those chrome header pipes in person, it was awe inspiring. After we saw the chrome headers, we equated some dual scavenger pipes that we had made, by our own neighborhood muffler shop. There were two pipes for each bank of exhaust outlets, running out of the back, underneath the rear axle. 4 pipes under the rear axle of our 1958 Impala.
    upload_2024-1-28_3-9-58.png They were legal in the Stock classes, until a protest about non factory stocked items. (they did not improve the performance of E.T. times or Top Speed in the quarter mile. Plus, they sounded a little off base, kind of like a weak 6 cylinder motor with Glasspacks…)

    As difficult as my search, I am still looking for a recording of that Ardun Motor from the same time period.

    But, until then, we are satisfied with the late 1959 film I took at Riverside Raceway in late December.
