No sorry but the photo looks real old and it looks like a 55 and I THINK I have seen other photos of it but can't remember where I posted them
I believe that is the Poll & Spens 55 Bird that ran out of Salt lake City. Driven by Bill Spens. Mick
There were some nice Hot Rod Birds back when, too bad we just don’t see more of them presently. Heck I haven’t even brought mine out in several years...........
What are they worth? More money restored or hot rodded? I ask because a buddy of mine has an elderly friend that wants to sell his. It has been sitting ion his garage for who knows how long. I am going to go see it next Thursday. All I know so far is what I can see from this fantastic photo he shot the other day. It is missing the rear rollers and the front fender has been poorly repaired but it is stored correctly with lots of cardboard to soak up the dampness. 57 vents and porthole top. Whats it worth? Range? Ideas?
I can only ***ume it is 57 from the limited pictures. I have absolutely no knowledge of these cars but this one is falling into my lap possibly.
It’s a 57, but in order to come up with an offer , ya might really look it over in person then a price can be figured out. where to start, only you and the seller will know since you’ll be there in person. I did buy my Hupp W-417 over the phone after I had my brother go do looksee on it. One of the best deals I’ve ever made. .
I wasn't as worried about what its worth, I've bought and sold 83 cars thus far, but I have no idea on these little t-birds. Ill go look at it next week and see what is there and what isn't. If it is hot rodded a bit (which is cheaper than restoring in my experience) can it fetch $40k. I can build bandit trans ams all day long and sell them for that. If it brings less i'll p***.
Go to trader online cl***ic cars and put in a Seattle zip code. Other than the e code birds, it has to be a perfect frame off restoration to get to $40K. So I think you’re going to be marginal by the level you set. The asking price and the sales price, as always, are different. When you look at it take a close look at the quarter panels from inside the trunk. Mouse nest favorite place, rusts from the inside out. Guess how I know. The rockers and other usual places you’ll know about.
This is what I needed to know! I don't want to spend 25k buying a building a car that sells for 30k. I can build those silly bandit cars for 20k all day long and they have a hot market. Last one I added a 4 gear and cut the roof off and added T-tops and it sold to a dealer sight unseen for 45k. If it was a vette I would know what I was doing but these little t-birds are out of my knowledge and comfort zone. Thank you for the reply. I'll go look but with wider eyes.
So I went out and took a gander at this 57 like I promised. It was purchased 41 years ago by this gentleman. The car needs to go away but this is not my fight. No engine or trans. It was a 3 speed, the shifter is still in the car. No options at all. The car is jacked up at a weird angle and there is too much pressure on the hood to unlatch the right catch. I was able to stick my cell phone in through the hood scoop to catch a shot of the trim tag The color code is AA, raven black and the car remains that color other than a couple of primer spots up front. No rust in the rockers, quarters, fenders, deck lid...pretty clean body. No dents, dings...or moldings. This is the little pig. Solid body, I'd give it a 90. The doors open and close even with the thing jacked up like this. No soft top (never had one as far as I can tell), just that green porthole top. I brought my magnetic based LED flashlight and it stuck everywhere I put it, hard and fast. This is the left fender obviously and frame. Weird little eyebrow tail lights and Oregon plates last licensed in 71 Rear bumper on the car, front bumper in the shop with grille and radiator Interior is a roach coach, I couldn't find the instrument cluster, someone's little hot rod once upon a time I told the wife that it isn't worth much in this condition. I am not interested in moving on it. Her husband has failing mental health and the car needs to go away sadly. I would love to ***ist her if possible. This may not be the best place to post info but if you know someone interested you can PM me. It would make a great hot rod! Funny story, on the way back from looking at it we stopped by the Big Foot in Washougal and there was a sweet little truck outside with a HAMB sticker in the windshield (it had some very nice company in the lot). I went inside and inquired. @Hotrodmyk was eaten and a meetin with a few of the faithful. Small world, cool website, great hobby.
I got it and a dis***embled machined 330 Desoto hemi for 4k. The PO was planning on squeezing that hemi in the engine bay. I "flipped the bird" to a buddy real fast as I didn't have any real desire for it. He is going to build it for his wife. I kept the hemi, going to put it back together real quick and sell it too.
