ive searched and searched on this site, and looked for books as well..but cannot seem to find any good information on the early ford wide five setups. i know 39 was most popular for production years but does anyone know the exact production years for the wide five? also, im assuming it was an option offered by ford, but on what models exactly? what was the selling points of the wide five? if anyone knows any info that would be great...or if there are any wide five information books or websites to go check out...

Strength..... Ford felt that having the lugs spaced far apart that there would be less chace of breaking a stud or tearing the center out of a conventional bolt pattern wheel. Eveidently there was merit to Henry's ideas as Wide 5's are used on most circle track cars to this day.
