An old resurrected thread, but some good info in it. Twenty-five or so years ago we purchased from the local Chrysler dealer a new "soccer van" for my wife, and would always get coupons for oil changes, "winter readiness checks", brake service, etc. in the mail from that dealership. The oil change coupons were usually pretty lucrative, and not vehicle specific, so one day I decided to run the '56 New Yorker down there for a cheap oil and filter change. It was supposed to be a "while you wait" change, and it was, but I waited four hours. They had to order, and have delivered, the filter from a local auto parts store. The first filter they got was wrong, so had to order another. When they finally got the right one they had one hell of a time figuring out how to install it. They pinched and cut the gasket, so had to sniff through the parts department to find something that would work. They ended up prying the rubber seal out of some big-***ed oil filter for who knows what, and damaged that one too. It was not quite a steady stream, but was dripping quite regularly, a drop a second or so. I told them to just stop, give me a few extra quarts of oil, and I'd drive it home and fix it, which I did. No charge for the oil change, but what a clusterfork it turned out to be. I should have known better but just wasn't thinking to clearly I guess.
The timing of this thread popping back is intriguing. There have been many adapters made over the years but never one that 'fit-all' and alot of folks made do with what they had or used a remote. The remote used to be an inexpensive way out but not today. I just finished a call asking about the mount I made years ago. Maybe it's time to check costs on cutting a few of my original piece for the shelf.
