i have been told i need to swap push rods, and ive been told they bolt right on.. whats the real deal? i have a set of #10 heads, and i need to do valve seals on my 303 heads.. so i was thinking of having the #10s rebuilt and bolt those on to breath a lil better. if its not a direct swap i will use the valve seals i have sittin here and wait for a cam and all for the #10s... if its easy, it may just have to happen right now.. whats the word rocketeers?
if you have the very early 303 it will have 1/4" diameter pushrods not a problem if you keep the low ratio early rockers and stock lifters. if you have the higher ratio rocker ***emblies on the #10 heads then you will need 5/16" rods and lifters to match.
i wanna end up with the stock rockers on the #10s, so i get the higher ratio,,, its a 51 303 (#2 heads), so i gotta upgrade the rest hey? damn!
paul, what about swappin the rockers from the #10s onto the 303 heads ? ive heard thats a direct bolt on, get me a lil better ratio.. is this a direct bolt on?
yes, you will need to swap the shaft towers as well, the shaft is offset to accommodate the higher ratio rockers if you have the later 303 it will have the same 5/16" diameter pushrods you can also use Chevy lifters and off the shelf shorter push rods call Delta Cams in Tacoma WA for numbers. they can rebuild your rocker ***emblies too, very fast turn around, and nice work too
