Woa, either you have some odd tastes in cars, or lead east is making us east coast guys look really bad!
The East Coast has a different taste in Customs, more add-ons rather then removal and cleaned up of extras.. I thought Lead East was a Custom show. seems like lots of hotrods showed up?
There are always loads of rods, but the emphasis is almost totally on kustoms. Registration is pre-72, but the environment is so hostile (see doo-wop and rockabilly only) to muscle cars that most stay away

You cannot tell what the majority of the cars at Lead East look like from the pics here. Of course, people take pics of the most "outstanding" or unusual cars that catch there eye. Mostly the unusual! That's why Lead East sometimes looks like a 'circus of freaks'. It DOES bring the freaks out, as well as the real serious custom guys. (I'm REAL glad he didn't show any of COOP's car!) I've been to EVERY one of the shows, even the first, in Flemington '83. It is what you make it. It is a party as well as a car show. The concerts, accapella, and other groups are tops, and add a lot to the atmosphere. The drive-in playing cheesy 50's movies even adds charm to the party. I was very depressed to get to the show and have it rain. I had been trying to get the Dodge out to a show all summer, and this was the first BIG one (Asbury was great, but small). I had to leave Saturday afternoon, it was such a downer. The only saving grace for me, was being able to get a pic of the car in front of the office building in front of the Hilton. Kinda like a Barris picture, no?
LEAD EAST RULES!!!!!!!!!!..rain or not, still the BEST show, we all had a great time, too bad it comes and goes so quickly....
Had a Freakin Blast. Been goin since '87. Thursday and Friday were nice. Sat. was indoors all day. But so much to see. Speakin of seeing. Saw this cruising the lots.
