The '57 was 2 barrel engine; but someone took the breather off the oil fill tube giving critters access. Nothing much left to salvage.
We've come a long way haven't we Swade? I've never seen workmanship like that on a car. Old trucks, Go Karts, farm implements, and impromptu repairs maybe, but never on a built-from-scratch car.
I don't think that I'd give that piece of shit to my worst enemy! I'd sooner kill him myself and wait for the reprecussion's!
Ha ! I actually sold the rolling chassis and the 26-7 T sedan body I had for it to a friends son when he was still in high-school. He cut everything apart and redid it, put a poly motor up front, he's now a welding instructor at one of the local schools, I'd like to think that old chassis helped him cut his teeth a little.
1957 date coded 265 2bbl motor. Flat top pistons with no valve reliefs. Casting number is the same as 283. Never been apart, still had flathead screws holding valve covers and timing cover on. Thought they were all yellow but this one was apparently red. From what I understand, for 57 sedans, the 3spd 2bbl cars got 265s and powerglide/turboglide got 283s.
