Post a pic. I might be able to help. I've got a book by Vern Tardel about rebuilding early ford boxes. It covers 1928 thru 1948 cars, 48 thru 56 f1 and f100 trucks.

    Not an F-1 box.

F-1 boxes were made by Gemmer (as were most early Ford, Hudson, and others). With the S on that one...I'd guess it's a Saginaw out of some GM product. It looks like a good size box and is laid out like a 32-34 box. Did you get a pitman arm with it?

I think the early saginaw/GM Boxes use same splines as '32-48 type Ford, from a limited number of encounters. There is a LOT of commonality to big splines on cars.

go look at chevy pickups from the early 50s
    isnt that the same box?

you might have better luck at chevytalk.com than a traditional hotrod forum

If that's the case...and the box is in decent shape...there would be no reason not to use it in an early Ford hot rod.

BTW, it is not an early 50-'s Chevy p/u box. They sat on top of the frame rail...not through it like this one.

I'm intersted in finding out what this box is as well. I used a 37 Hudson box in my 32...

    Look here...

ManyOlCars was on the right track...it's late 50's Chevy truck. That should be pretty easy to find a pitman arm for.
