Not a bad idea, it would save ryan a lot of work restamping every name and it would show when you became a alliance member. (just my 2 cents)

Ryan, what a great idea!! ( The Alliance) Ever since I rolled over my life has become better.. Chicks knocking on the door at 1:00am, A beer truck honking for me to help unload my free BEER, A free subscription to HUStLER showing up.. All this in addition to the vendor coupons and tag. Is it too early too sign up for next year? and are the tags gunna be a different color for every year?(No shit ,I'm serious on that one)

Gotta go someones at the door..

    how about alliance vendors
have alliance vendor as title and thus themself also get the hamb alliance benefits if they need to order stuff (personal not to resell maybe?)

and also will make it easier/one more way to find people who are vendors

I joined the "Alliance" because of what I get from the HAMB. How to's and "How do I"..Help me out with ideas and remedying problems that I have. Plus, the ability to buy and sell parts is priceless. The $50.00 is well spent for "Membership", and the discounts is icing on the cake.

    Thanks Ryan!!

    THANK YOU RYAN!!

I joined because I wanted to pay my dues for being a member of this worldwide car club we call the HAMB. Thats what this place is to me.

I start my day, every day, with a cup of joe, my medications, and my HAMB.
I love to wake up to updates of the "LittleMan's Coupe", Bleed's latest creation and all the crazy shit Plowboy spits out.

Some days, I spend the whole reading and learning and dreaming of building and driving my first "real" hot rod. The knowledge and wisdom I've gained from this "club" could not be duplicated anywhere else.

And now, I come back from my 4th of july vacation to learn all about the
"July 1st" changes that Ryan's made.

Now, not only do I get the HAMB knowledge, but also some killer discounts AND a bitchin little tag for the firewall of my '30 coupe project.

    PLUS

I get a way to give Ryan some $$dough$$ to help pay the rent on this "clubhouse", without it seeming like charity or a hand-out. But, if I don't got the $$$, I can still hangout and learn and do everything I could do before, like nothings changed.

Can it get any better? Time will tell.

I used to do mailing lists and internet stuff for fun, etc... and it's amazing the stuff people will and won't pay for. If I had the extra dough laying around, I'd go for it, but I don't. I don't like the membership/avatar name tag thing -- if your going to change, just drop them all entirely, as they're now 100% meaningless. Any FNG can be an alliance member with 1 post. The names were also useless because you could post crap and get an "atta boy". 1000 "good job / looks bitchin' " posts vs. 10 tech posts isn't a gold standard to measure by.

Someday there will be a great book on how to make a community and how to nuture it to fruition.

Hey PsychoDaemon, when the hell didja become RocketDemon? Just curious.

I've been here a very long time and I think it's best I say as little as possible because I've gotten so much from this place and I have the utmost respect for Ryan. But now I rarely visit, I feel bad for saying this but the HAMB isn't what it once was, and I yearn for it.

I still love you Ryan and all the fantastic people I've met because of you.

    1. As a simple car guy and not a very good (ok, piss poor) social person, it is my opinion that the H.A.M.B. is 100% better now than it was two years ago. All of my pals tell me the same, so I'm gonna keep heading in the same direction... Even more cool shit is coming.

    2. 4t64frd, that's brilliant... I will consider doing that in January for sure...

    3. To me, $50 is a shitload of money... Seriously. That's why I am gonna bust ass to make sure you guys get your money's worth!

    4. Paying to be in the H.A.M.B. Alliance isn't paying your dues... It's simply buying into a group that has market power. Paying your dues comes from providing valuable content to other members.

    5. I appreciate all the nice words and support. The Alliance is doing really well thus far and we have been contacted by a ton of vendors that would like to get involved. We will most likely be adding to the vendor list next week.

Discounts are only great if it's products someone is really going to buy . . . set of tires . . . I suppose, but I'm certainly not going to fork out money on tires that just look cool . . . make me go faster . . . yes. Make my car handle better . . . yes. Look like someone's memory from 40+ years ago about what was cool then . . . no. Bargains are only bargains if you really needed them in the first place. :)

Tires aren't the only example here, just one that came to mind. I like the jalopy part of my car too much to fake my patina.

  16. I think $50.00 is more than reasonable to ask of any of us as I am sure pretty much anyone who has used this forum (classifieds particularly) has saved more than that just by being here and using all the knowledge and experience available.
However, I'm always worried when money gets involved. I have seen too many friendships ended and good things go bad once money enters the picture. For some reason, it's the benifits that make me nervous, mostly because it gets other peoples money involved.
But, that being said... I will send in mine as soon as I can and I hope all my worries are waylayed and this place/site never goes away and continues to be the bossest fucking site on the web!

Those are scheduled for 2080 and 2081.

PS: 40 years from now, the HAMB tags will be the timing tags, car club plaques, and license plate toppers that people search for at flea markets.

It wouldn't matter to me if the dues or what ever you want to call it were more than $50 a year. The people I have met and the information and advice and inspriation that I have recieved have saved me more head ache and heart ache than you can ever imagin. I am in debt up to my eyeballs but still ponyed up the dough. You can't take it with you.
I don't care about the title under my name or the post counts, I post when I feel I can contribute, help, inspire, guide, need some advice or "how to" info or just bust some balls(twist a tit for the ladys). They say "pay back is a bitch", well Ryan just made it easier. Thanks again for all you do. It may not be much, but it is definitly heart felt. Dennis UPS

Anybody got a good source for 3/8 reach hypoallergenic stainless pop rivets?
I'm worried about the regular kind making rust trails down my forehead after I install my plaque...

I'm in and appreciate everything you have done. Thanks Ryan and the obviously very loving wife.

I am also going to offer a sponsorship of one deserving individual who may not have the means or the situation they are in leaves them a little short for now.

I have a few ideas but any votes for persons deserving but will take input from all. Send me a PM, 20 words or less should be sufficient with who you think is most deserving and worthy of this. (BTW Spelling and grammer are not weighted on this exercise.)

  24. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet since I've seen questions about it, but if you click on your User Cp (top left below H.A.M.B. logo), scroll down your control panel and click on 'paid subscriptions' under the miscelaneous section and it shows your Alliance Member start date and expiration date. It will help you know when it's time to renew.

  25. the HAMB for a buck a week with two weeks vacation, that cheap at twice the price.

GREAT idea! but I'm going to post my thoughts right here for all to see (plus I'll copy and paste a PM to you as well).

I'd like to nominate Nick32Vic. This young man has held a job after school and weekends and scrimped and saved to build himself a bad ass little '32 Vicky. He works hard at school, hard at work and hard in the garage and still manges to find time for his family. Did I mention he's 18 or 19 years old?? Nick deserves to be part of the HAMB "alliance" and if you could help him achieve that I would be eternally grateful.

(so shoot me for going over 20 words.):D

    Nick's got my vote.

Denise can have my other 16 words for going over the limit :D

I'll second the vote for Nick. He's a good guy and his Mom and Dad are tops also.

Everything else Denise said. He's 18.

Also, just saw that you said PM you the essay.

Sorry, to you and Ryan for derailing the thread.
