As i have talked to a few friends in that area they have told me most of what used to be downtown is trashed and ruble. The paso Inn is also taped off with police tape, and not sure if it will re-open. Has anyone talked to anyone at West Coast Kustoms to see if this event has the chance to be cancelled or moved??

I think if they cancelled it, they would lose the revenue that could help with the rebuild. Just think, 20 bucks a burnout, they could raise thousands [IMG]

Withe Governor Arnold stating yesterday the people can use state relief funds to rebuild, I think things will be ok by then. The question is, will it have the same quaint old skool look, or will they put up a new fangled veneer over the place? Hopefully, they'll keep it nostalgic.

Lets not get rumors started yet. It has only been two days since the quake. Alot can happen in six months. Maybe give the people in Paso some time to get things sorted out.

I would like to hear from West Coast Kustoms before I made any****umptions.

Neal's absolutely right. Besides, the show is put on by WCK not the City of Paso Robles. If the show would be burden on the town it could easily be moved for one year. They've thought about having to move before. Hopefully everything will be cool and we can enjoy the neat little town we all flock to. I've been trying to figure out a way of donating money on behalf of hot rodders. I think it would be a nice gesture to let the town know how much we appreciate them. Any ideas?

Being in a community that was recently ravished by the states largest fire in history, I'm happy to say, people get over it.

By no means am I making light of the damage and the loss of life, but moving on and rebuilding is the beauty of human spirit and a major element of the hotrodding hobby.

This morning, 2 months after the fires, the news showed the first of many homes were having their new foundations poured. A very nice thing to see for certain.

If you have ever been to Paso, that little town becomes part of you and is one of my all time favorite towns! I have no official word, but I am willing to bet they will rebuild quickly and have their 04 show plus many more WCK shows in the years to come.

My heart, thoughts, and prayers to the folks of that region. To show my support, I am still gonna look for a room for May until some offical word is released. [IMG]

I swear the downtown isn't totally trashed and laying in rubble. Yes there is alot of damage, but in a few weeks the damaged buildings beyond repair (2 or 3) will be removed and repairs will begin on what is needed. Just my guess.

I took some pictures of the Paso Inn today. They were removing all of the tile roofing and the brick facing. But a big note it is still open for business. No reason to scream let's quit. I'm sure the show will go on. Alot of stores are still closed. Through inspections many have been OK'ed to re-open. I saw more green tagged buildings than not. The smell from the previously cap sulfur spring in the new library parking lot is alittle ripe.

I think this has got to be one of the most insensitive posts ever...

Not only is it*****ing XMAS EVE, but as Sir Donnie said,
and as we all know, people DIED, and the town is still dealing
with the immediate problems and answers...
    not to mention more aftershocks...

the LAST thing we need, is some impatient****hole(s) to go calling
or emailing West Coast Kustoms or Paso city officials to REALLY
ruffle the feathers so to speak....

Let the holidays pass, then wait another couple of months,
then check the West Coast Kustoms website to see if there's any updates,
    THEN ask the same question....

    Happy Holidays..!!! xoxoxo...Snacks...

OHHHMYYYGAWWWD, OHHHMYYYGAWWWD, IF THAT BOWLING ALLEY ISN"T READY FOR MY 8" CUFFS AND 7" POMP, I SIMPLY DONT KNOW WHAT I'LL DOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Yes, people are dead, 100+ yr old buildings destroyed, commerce disrupted and some can only think of THEMSELVES.

    Merry Motherfucking PLASTI-CHRIST-MESS indeed.

Yeah, some who posted expressed concern /interest for donating $, Try Red Cross, but with the formal disaster dec, that place will be well taken care of.

Towns ARE the people that comprise them, people DO bounce back, but leave them alone to heal...

  21. Is this post for real? The guy was bored and wondered out loud if anyone thought paso was going to happen next year.

Obviously it will, it happens in the court yard, not at the Jewelery Shop. They need all the money and love the crowd. By the way, the poor girl that died in that building was hot as hell (saw her picture on the local news) total shame. It is sad that those families lost loved ones three days before Christmas.

Why give this guy*****? What motives could he have? That's*****ing weird.

Nice to hear that your saddened about the "hot" chick that died... yea, she was 19... and her life was cut short practically before it began... but I havent seen/heard anyone mention the older woman (I think she was in her 50's?).. maybe she wasn't "hot".. but thats(probably) someones mother if not a grandmother..

Sorry... it hit home a lil bit.. being Christmas and all..

you know, its kinda ironic, Ive been telling people I know that the houses in California cost WAY too much*****ing money... By the time I afford one, I will prolly die before I pay that****** off! So, my solution is a couple of huge earthquakes to scare all to peoples that moved here from out of state... to move back to wherever they came from. Drive down the property costs!!

But the loss of life saddens me.. hell, i just mentioned my earthquake "philosophy" the day before the earthquake hit... now thats*****ty! and I find out today that there was a 3.something earthquake about 10 miles from the town where I live.. and it has been determined that it was NOT an aftershock of the quake a few days ago..

anyways, whatver happens happens... i am confident that the show will go on.. mabe just not in Paso this coming year.....
